DescriptionThe whole story▼
A surprising number of SV650s go down for the first time in a car park, at a speed close to nought, in the hands of a rider who has just stepped up from a smaller licence. The V-twin is light enough to catch and the fall is usually nothing more than a scraped lever and a bruised afternoon, but the lever still has to be replaced before the bike goes out again. Accossato lists the AGD03 for the SV650 across 1999 to 2015, a silver front brake lever in the original form.
Key Features
- Front brake lever in the original form for the Suzuki SV650
- Accossato's entry covers 1999 to 2015, naked and S versions, including the ABS years
- Silver
- Right-hand side of the handlebar
- An original spare parts type, built for value rather than performance
- Accossato reports better resistance after damage or a fall
- One lever per pack
- No German ABE or test mark on file; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
The AGD03 is listed by Accossato among its original spare parts types, a range developed to put right an everyday knock without charging for a performance part. Its shape follows the outline of the brake lever fitted to the SV650 across this long production run, so the hand finds the same reach and the bike looks as it did before the incident. Accossato also states that the way these levers are produced leaves them more resistant once they have taken damage or been through a fall. The colour given for this fitment is silver. No material, weight or dimension is published by the maker, so none is claimed here.
One Code Across Three Shapes of the Same Bike
Over this production run the SV650 appeared as a half-faired naked, as the fully dressed S, and later with ABS added to either, and Accossato's list shows all of them sitting under the AGD03. That is a useful thing to know when buying a used example with mixed history, because the fairing on the bike tells you nothing about which lever it needs; the front brake perch and the master cylinder carried over regardless of bodywork. What does differ between an early machine and a late one is how the lever has usually been treated. A bike bought as a first proper motorcycle after a test has often spent its early weeks being walked backwards out of a space and occasionally dropped doing it, and the lever is the first thing to touch the ground. Check the end of the existing blade for a flattened or chipped tip before assuming the fall did no damage, and look at the perch clamp too, since a knock hard enough to mark a lever can also nick the bar underneath it. None of this calls for anything beyond a clean pivot, a trace of grease and a check of the brake light switch once the new lever is fitted.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's AGD03 covers the SV650 from 1999 to 2015, and the same bike also carries the AGD11 for 2015 and 2017 and the AGD262 for 2017 to 2024, so a machine from the later changeover years can sit under more than one code and the fitted part decides. On the clutch side the matching entry for this span is the AGS57. The AGD03 is also listed with us for the Suzuki GSF1250 Bandit, the GSX1250FA and the GSX1300R Hayabusa. Riders who would rather fit a tuning part will find Accossato's CNC levers for the SV650 under EDF014, ESS248 and ESS650.
Road Approval
No approval papers or test marks were supplied with the AGD03, so no German ABE can be quoted, and the lever is listed for racing and competition use.
