DescriptionThe whole story▼
In 2013 Ducati celebrated twenty years of the Monster, and the Monster 796 was among the bikes that received an Anniversario edition. The occasion said a lot about the model: an air-cooled two-valve twin, a trellis frame and the familiar tank shape, the formula that had made the first Monster a success in 1993. Many 796s are still ridden every day, and not all of them have a garage to go home to. Accossato lists its TS012 rear reservoir cap for the Monster 796 from 2010 to 2015; it is CNC-machined from aluminium and offered in seven anodised colours.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Monster 796, listed for 2010 to 2015
- Also for the ABS versions of 2011 to 2013 and the Anniversario of 2013
- For the original rear reservoir
- Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
- Seven colours: silver, black, red, gold, orange, green, blue
- Check the application list before ordering
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The TS012 is produced by Accossato from aluminium on CNC machines and finished by anodising, which gives the cap its colour: silver, black, red, gold, orange, green or blue. It is made for the original rear reservoir of the listed bikes, so the Monster 796 keeps its standard rear master cylinder and line. On a bike of this age, the seal or diaphragm under the old cap may well have hardened; check it during the swap and replace it if necessary.
Parked Outside All Year
Not every Monster 796 has a garage; many spend their nights at the kerb. Sun, rain and frost are hard on rubber and plastic, and the parts around the rear brake are no exception: the diaphragm under the cap can harden, and a cap that no longer closes well lets moisture reach fluid that absorbs it readily. A good cover helps, and so does a regular look. With the bike upright, check that the fluid is within the marked range and looks light rather than brown; if the date of the last change is unknown, assume it is due and have it renewed as the owner's manual specifies. When the TS012 goes on, renew a tired diaphragm at the same time, choose a dry day, lay a cloth over the paint and plastics nearby and keep the reservoir open for as short a time as possible. Rinse any drop immediately with water. Tighten the cap gently, then work the pedal several times before the next ride.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the TS012 for the Monster 796 from 2010 to 2015, including the ABS versions of 2011 to 2013 and the Anniversario of 2013, with and without ABS. The same cap is catalogued at Inter-Pace for the Hypermotard 939, the Desert X and the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200. Before ordering, make sure your Monster 796 still has its original rear reservoir, and compare it with the list.
Road Approval
As no ABE or test mark for the TS012 is on file with us, we offer it for racing and competition.
