DescriptionThe whole story▼

Training days for the Street Triple 765 R often end with a session on slow control: tight circles, figure of eights and slaloms designed to build confidence at walking pace rather than speed. It is exactly this kind of exercise, done at a crawl with the rider's attention split between the cones and the mirrors, that produces most of the low-speed tip-overs an instructor sees in a day, usually towards the rear of the bike as it pivots around a stationary front wheel. Accossato lists the PP003 rear axle sliders for the Street Triple 765 R of 2009 to 2018.

Key Features

  • Rear axle sliders for the Triumph Street Triple 765 R, 2009 to 2018
  • Accossato PP003, a left and a right protector
  • Aluminium and plastic, black
  • Spacers, screws and remaining mounting parts in the kit, as stated by Accossato
  • Front axle sliders PF03 also listed for this bike
  • Designed to be sacrificed first in a fall
  • Same pair listed for the Daytona 675 R and the Street Triple 765 RS
  • No German ABE documented; offered for racing

Construction and Material Quality

The PP003 is made up of two black protectors, each combining aluminium and plastic, fitted one to each side at the rear of the Street Triple 765 R. Accossato's kit, by its own description, includes the spacers, screws and other parts needed for mounting. During a slow control exercise, if the rear end swings wide and the bike tips, the sliders are designed to meet the ground before the swingarm and the rear axle area, limiting the harm to those parts. They are meant to be used up in that role, and a slider that has ground through should be replaced before the next session.

Slow Circles, Cones and a Pivoting Rear End

Slow control exercises ask a rider to balance clutch, throttle and rear brake together while steering with the body as much as the bars, and the Street Triple 765 R's rear end is what does most of the pivoting as the bike turns tightly around a near-stationary front wheel. A rider who looks down at the cones rather than ahead through the turn, or who grabs the clutch rather than easing it, can lose that balance quickly, and the bike tends to drop towards the rear rather than the front in these moments. The fall is almost always a slow one, with little speed behind it, which is exactly the situation the sliders are built for. After such a drop, check the sliders, the chain and the exhaust heat shield before resuming the exercise.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's own years for the PP003 on the Street Triple 765 R run from 2009 to 2018, and that is the span we use. The PF03 sliders handle the front of the same bike, rounding out the protection. In our shop, the PP003 is also listed for the Daytona 675 R and for the Street Triple 765 RS. If you are not certain your Street Triple 765 R matches, ask us before ordering rather than guessing from the model name alone.

Road Approval

No ABE or test mark has been supplied to us for the PP003, so we list it for racing and competition purposes.
