DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Scrambler 1100 Special gets looked at, and owners who park it in town tend to lock it carefully: a disc lock on a front brake disc, a chain through the rear wheel, sometimes both. That kind of security is sensible, yet a lock can also cause damage of its own. A rider in a hurry forgets it, rolls forward, the wheel stops dead and the bike goes over before a foot is down. For the Scrambler 1100 Special of 2018, Accossato lists the PP018, a pair of black rear axle sliders.
Key Features
- Rear axle sliders for the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special, 2018
- Accossato part number PP018, supplied as a pair
- Aluminium and plastic in black
- Spacers, screws and further fitting parts included, according to Accossato
- Designed to meet the ground first if the bike tips over
- Complements the TP090 crash pads for the same model
- No German ABE documented; offered for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The PP018 consists of two black rear sliders, each made from a mix of aluminium and plastic. Accossato states that the kit includes spacers, screws and every other part needed to mount them on the bikes in its application list. On a Scrambler 1100 Special that goes over, they are designed to be the first contact at the rear, so that the swingarm and the rear axle area take less of the blow. That can mean smaller repairs, though never none at all. Once a slider has been worn through or cracked, it should be replaced before the next ride.
The Lock You Forgot
Every disc lock should come with a reminder, and the simplest is a bright coiled cable running from the lock to the handlebar or the lever, where you cannot miss it. Some riders hang the lock key on the same ring as the ignition key, so that the bike cannot be started without handling it. Make a habit of walking once round the Scrambler 1100 Special before you get on, looking at both wheels. A chain through the rear wheel is even more dangerous if forgotten, because it can wrap round the swingarm and the drive chain, so thread it where it cannot catch and never ride off without removing it. If you have rolled off with a lock in place, do not just lift the bike and go: check the disc, the caliper and the mudguard, and look at the sliders and their fixings. A disc that has been hit hard by a lock needs a close inspection by someone who knows brakes.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list names the Scrambler 1100 Special of 2018 for the PP018, and our listing matches that year. Later model years are not on the list, so please ask us before ordering if your Scrambler 1100 Special was built after 2018. For the same bike, Accossato offers the TP090 crash pads, listed for 2018 and 2019. The PP018 also appears in our shop for the standard Scrambler 1100, the 1100 Sport and the Scrambler 800.
Road Approval
As we have no ABE or other test documents for the PP018, we supply it for use in motorsport.
