DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Scrambler 1100 arrived for 2018 as the grown-up member of Ducati's Scrambler family, with a larger air-cooled twin, riding modes and a heavier, more substantial feel than the 800s. Owners who look after their bikes at home often invest in a motorcycle lift, and it makes chain care, cleaning and small jobs far more comfortable. It also creates a new way for a bike to fall: from waist height, onto a concrete floor. For the Scrambler 1100 of 2018, Accossato lists the PP018, a pair of black rear axle sliders.
Key Features
- Rear axle sliders for the Ducati Scrambler 1100, model year 2018
- Accossato PP018, one protector for each side
- Aluminium and plastic, black
- Spacers, screws and all other mounting parts in the pack, according to Accossato
- Intended to make first contact at the rear in a fall
- TP090 crash pads listed for the same bike
- No German ABE on file; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
PP018 is Accossato's code for this rear fork protection: two black sliders built from aluminium and plastic, one for the left and one for the right. Accossato includes spacers, screws and all further parts it lists as necessary for mounting. At the back of the Scrambler 1100 they are meant to be the first point of contact if the bike falls, ahead of the swingarm and the area around the rear axle, and that can reduce the damage there. They are wear parts in the truest sense. Scratches are expected, and a slider that has taken a heavy blow is swapped for a new one.
Up on the Lift
A motorcycle lift turns awkward jobs into comfortable ones, as long as the bike is secured before it leaves the ground. Roll the Scrambler 1100 onto the platform slowly, ideally with a helper walking beside it, and clamp the front wheel in the wheel vice. Then strap the bike down to the lift's anchor points with ratchet or cam straps, pulling it down onto its suspension from both sides. Never rely on the side stand once the bike is up, and do not lean on it while you loosen a stubborn nut, because the force goes straight into the straps. Removing a wheel or the exhaust changes the balance, so check the straps again before and after. Lower the lift fully before you take the straps off, and roll the bike off with the front brake covered. A fall from lift height is a harder test than a tip-over in the street, and the sliders may not be the only parts that touch the floor, which is why the straps matter most.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list shows the PP018 for the Scrambler 1100 with the 2018 model year only, and our listing follows it. If your Scrambler 1100 was built later, please ask us before ordering. For the same bike, Accossato also lists the TP090 crash pads, with the years 2018 and 2019. The PP018 itself is catalogued in our shop across the Scrambler family, including the 1100 Special, the Classic and the Icon. After fitting, turn the rear wheel by hand and check that the sliders clear the chain and the brake.
Road Approval
Approval documents for the PP018, whether a German ABE or a test mark, are not available to us; the sliders are offered for racing and competition.
