DescriptionThe whole story▼

Honda built the CRF450X for enduro and cross-country riding, and on fast, open terrain it is in its element. At speed the rider stands, eyes far ahead, letting the bike move freely beneath, and the feet become the only firm link to the machine over every rut, stone and washout. That link has to hold for long stretches. Accossato makes enlarged footpegs in Ergal for the CRF450X of 2005 to 2023, available in orange, blue, black, red or Titanium.

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's description of these footpegs is short: enlarged, made of Ergal, for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles. Ergal is a high-strength aluminium alloy. An enlarged footpeg gives the boot more support, and on a fast, rough track that support is needed all the time. The set is a pair, left and right, in the colour of your choice. The firm behind them won an enduro world title in 1985.

Standing at Speed

Riding fast over rough open ground is mostly a matter of vision and posture. Look far ahead, further than feels natural, so there is time to take in what is coming. Stand with the knees bent and slightly forward, the weight centred over the pegs, and grip the bike with the knees. Keep the arms relaxed and let the handlebar move. When the ground gets rougher, shift the weight back a little to keep the front wheel light.

At speed the rider also has to be ready for surprises: a hidden hole, a rock, a washout across the track. With a secure footing, the reaction can come from the legs, by moving the weight back or letting the knees absorb the hit, rather than from a grab at the handlebar. On the CRF450X, which is often ridden hard for long distances, the load on the feet goes on for hours. A broader peg spreads it over more of the sole and makes the long stretches easier to bear.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the CRF450X from 2005 to 2023, and we have linked the set to those years. No other Accossato footpeg is listed for the bike. The same pair is also in our range for the CRF250X and the CRF250 Rally. When fitting, inspect the original pins and springs, reuse them if they are sound, grease the pivot lightly and check that each peg returns fully.

Road Approval

There is no ABE or other approval on file for these footpegs. They are offered for competition use.
