DescriptionThe whole story▼
The XDiavel Dark joined Ducati's range for 2021 as the most understated version of the cruiser, finished in matt black. Dark paint looks good in any light, but it has a practical side as well: in strong sun a black tank soon becomes warm to the touch, and that warmth affects what happens when you open the filler. The FC105 from Accossato covers the XDiavel Dark from 2021 to 2024, a machined aluminium filler cap with quick release whose pawl comes with a pin in one of six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Ducati XDiavel Dark, 2021 to 2024
- CNC-machined from aluminium throughout
- Quick-closing pawl: the tank opens and shuts in moments
- Pin available in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Separate replacement pawl in case of damage
- New design, robust and durable according to Accossato
- No German ABE documented; track use only
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the FC105 from aluminium on computer-controlled machines, keeping the whole body in that one material, and calls it sturdy and long-lived. The look is a new design. The quick-closing pawl takes care of opening and closing, so the filler of the XDiavel Dark stands open only as long as the fuel takes to go in. On a matt black bike, the pin on that pawl is one of the few spots of colour, or none at all if you choose black. If the pawl is ever damaged, Accossato supplies it as a separate part.
When the Tank Has Been in the Sun
Fuel expands as it warms, and the vapour above it builds a little pressure in a closed tank. After a session on a hot day, or an hour parked in full sun, that is normal, and it is why a filler cap sometimes gives a short hiss as it opens. Treat that moment with respect. Let the XDiavel Dark stand with the engine off for a few minutes, so the big twin below the tank is no longer at its hottest. Keep your face back, hold a clean cloth in your other hand and release the pawl calmly rather than with a jerk, giving any trapped vapour time to escape before the cap comes fully open. Then pour slowly and stop well short of the top of the filler neck, because fuel that goes in cool will expand again as the tank warms up. Close the cap, wipe any drips off the matt paint at once, and park the bike in the shade if you can.
Fitment and Compatibility
There is one entry for this bike on Accossato's list: the XDiavel Dark from 2021 to 2024. The standard XDiavel and its other versions are listed for the same FC105 under their own name and have a separate product page with us. Other bikes we sell the same cap for include the Diavel and the Panigale V2 955. Please match the year of your Dark against the list before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE or expert report is documented for the FC105, so its use is limited to the circuit. Like most road bikes, the XDiavel Dark has a factory cap that locks, and for riding on public roads that cap stays on.
Scope of Delivery
Supplied as one Accossato FC105 quick-release cap with the pin colour you select; spare pawls are sold on their own.
