DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Scrambler Icon was the starting point of Ducati's modern Scrambler range from 2015, and its teardrop tank, with side panels that can be exchanged, became a trademark of the family. Owners swap those panels to change the bike's look, and many think about colour on the Icon more than on most motorcycles. A coloured pin on the filler cap fits naturally into that game. For the Scrambler Icon of 2015 to 2022, including the Icon Dark of 2020 to 2022, the Accossato cap is the FC105, CNC-machined from aluminium, with a quick-closing pawl whose pin comes in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Ducati Scrambler Icon, 2015 to 2022
- Also listed for the Icon Dark of 2020 to 2022
- Entirely CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl for fast opening and closing
- Pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Spare pawl sold separately
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FC105 leaves Accossato's CNC machines as a cap made entirely of aluminium, which the company describes as tough and long-lasting; the styling is its own and new. Opening and closing the Scrambler Icon's tank is a quick job thanks to the quick-closing pawl. Only the pin is offered in colours, six of them, which leaves the choice of accent to you; the rest of the cap is not described as coloured. A damaged pawl can be replaced by itself, since Accossato sells it separately.
Side Panels, Paint and a Pin
On the Scrambler Icon, the tank carries most of the colour, and the side panels decide much of it. Choosing a pin colour is easier if you look at the whole bike rather than at the cap alone. A yellow Icon can take a black or silver pin; a red one can have a red pin for a matched look or a silver one for contrast. The Icon Dark, with its matt black finish, gives the pin more attention than any other paint, so decide whether you want an accent or want the cap to disappear. If you change side panels now and then, a neutral pin keeps working with every combination. Look at the bike from above before deciding, in daylight, or at a photograph taken from that angle, because it is the view from which you and everyone in the paddock see the cap. And remember that the cap belongs to circuit days: the look it creates is one for the track, not for the ride there.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the FC105 covers the Scrambler Icon from 2015 to 2022 and the Icon Dark from 2020 to 2022. We also list the same cap for the Scrambler 1100, the Panigale V2 and the DesertX. Look your Icon up on the application list before ordering. A cold engine, a clean filler and a seal sitting evenly all round are the three conditions for fitting, and a dry rim after the first fill confirms the job.
Road Approval
The FC105 comes with no German ABE and no documented expert report, so we offer it for the track. The Icon's original cap normally opens with the ignition key; for road riding it goes back on, since this cap is not a direct replacement on public roads.
