DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Tracer 900 turned the MT-09's triple into a genuine sport-tourer, adaptable enough to cross a country in a weekend or simply handle the daily grind with panniers fitted for shopping. Ferry crossings are part of that touring life for many owners, and the loading ramp onto a ferry deck is steep, often wet with sea spray, and marshalled by crew who want vehicles moving steadily rather than hesitating halfway up. Accossato lists the PF040 front axle sliders for the Tracer 900 of 2015 to 2018.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Yamaha Tracer 900, 2015 to 2018
- Accossato PF040, one protector for each side
- Aluminium and plastic, black finish
- Spacers, screws and remaining mounting parts in the kit, according to Accossato
- PF055 sliders and TP063 crash pads also listed for this bike
- Designed to take the first contact if the bike tips over
- Same pair listed for the MT-09, MT-09 SP, Tracer 900 GT and XSR900
- No German ABE on file; for racing and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Both PF040 protectors are a mix of aluminium and plastic, finished in black and sized for the left and right side of the front wheel. Accossato's own account of the kit lists the spacers, the screws and the rest of the fittings needed for mounting. On a loaded Tracer 900 inching up a steep, wet ferry ramp, these sliders stand ready to take the first contact should the bike slip or tip, taking some of what the fork and front axle area would otherwise suffer. Once ground down this way, a slider is not worth keeping; fit a new one.
A Wet, Steep Ramp Onto the Ferry
Ferry ramps are built for cars and lorries first, and a motorcycle rider crossing one, often with luggage changing the bike's balance, has to manage a steep gradient, a metal or painted surface slick with sea spray, and the pressure of marshals waving vehicles aboard quickly. Stopping on the ramp itself, even briefly, is something crews actively discourage, which leaves little room to recover from a wheel that slips on wet metal or a clutch that catches awkwardly on the incline. A loaded Tracer 900 that loses its footing here can tip before the rider has any real chance to correct it. If that happens, the sliders take the first contact; check them along with the panniers and the mirror once safely aboard.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the PF040 for the Tracer 900 from 2015 to 2018, and our listing follows those years. The PF055 sliders and the TP063 crash pads are also listed for this bike. In our shop, the PF040 additionally covers the MT-09, the MT-09 SP, the Tracer 900 GT and the XSR900. Please check your Tracer 900 against the application list before ordering, or ask us to confirm it.
Road Approval
We hold no ABE or other test document for the PF040, so it is supplied for racing and competition use.
