DescriptionThe whole story▼
Park a Panigale V4 S in a town square on a summer evening, and it rarely stays alone for long. With its electronically adjusted suspension, forged wheels and the unmistakable shape of Ducati's four-cylinder superbike, it draws a crowd, and sooner or later someone asks whether they may sit on it for a photo. It is a compliment, but a bike resting on its side stand is less stable than it looks, and its weight is easy to misjudge for anyone who has never held one. For the V4 S of 2018 and 2019, Accossato lists the PF050 front axle sliders.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Panigale V4 S, 2018 and 2019
- Accossato PF050, a left and a right protector
- Aluminium and plastic, finished in black
- Supplied with spacers, screws and the remaining fitting parts, according to Accossato
- Made to take the first contact if the bike tips over
- Same sliders listed for the Panigale V4, V4 R and 1299 S
- No German ABE on file; intended for track and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's PF050 pairs aluminium with plastic and comes in black, as a set of two: one slider for each side of the front wheel of the Panigale V4 S. By Accossato's account, the kit contains the spacers, screws and every further part required for mounting. The idea is the same whether the bike falls in a car park or slides off a circuit: the sliders should reach the ground before the fork and the axle area, and by taking the contact they can reduce what those parts suffer. A slider that has done that job once, and shows it, is replaced.
Can I Sit on It for a Photo?
Saying no is always an option, and most people accept it with a smile. If you do say yes, stay in charge. Stand on the right of the Panigale V4 S, away from the stand, with one hand on the right grip and a finger on the front brake, because that is the side it would fall towards if someone pushed it upright. Ask the person to climb on slowly from the stand side, to leave the bike leaning on its stand rather than lifting it, and to keep their hands off the bars. Children should never sit on the bike without an adult steadying it, and nobody should touch the exhaust or the engine after a ride, since both stay hot for a while. Keep the key in your pocket. When the photo is taken, check that the stand is still fully out and that the bike has settled onto it before you step away. And if a stranger knocks it over while you are in the café, look at the sliders and the fairing edges, ask for contact details and take pictures before anyone leaves.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the PF050 for the Panigale V4 S of 2018 and 2019, and we have used exactly those years. No further Accossato protection part is listed for the V4 S. The same sliders are catalogued in our shop for the Panigale V4, the V4 R and the Panigale 1299 S. If your Panigale V4 S was built after 2019, please ask us before ordering, and after fitting make sure that nothing touches when the bars are turned from lock to lock.
Road Approval
We have no approval documents for the PF050, such as an ABE or a test mark, and we sell it for use in racing and competition.
