DescriptionThe whole story▼

The BMW R nineT Scrambler invites its rider to leave the tarmac now and then. With its scrambler styling and relaxed riding position, it looks at home on the white gravel roads of Tuscany or on a forest track. Gravel, though, is a surface where a slow slide or a tip-over can happen at any moment, especially in a tight turn or on a steep descent. For the R nineT Scrambler of 2016, Accossato lists the PF048, a pair of front axle sliders in black.

Key Features

  • Front axle sliders for the BMW R nineT Scrambler, model year 2016
  • Accossato front fork protection PF048
  • Pair: one slider per side
  • Aluminium and plastic, black
  • Spacers, screws and all fitting parts included, according to Accossato
  • Intended to touch down first when the bike falls or slides
  • No German ABE on file; for track and competition

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato builds the PF048 from aluminium in combination with plastic and supplies the two protectors in black. The spacers, screws and remaining fitting parts are included, the manufacturer says. On an R nineT Scrambler that is taken onto gravel, a front slider has an obvious job: if the bike slides out or tips over, it should reach the ground ahead of the fork and the axle area, where it may limit the damage. When one is badly worn or cracked, replace it before the next outing.

White Roads and Loose Gravel

Gravel roads reward a relaxed style. If you are comfortable doing so, stand on the footrests, grip the tank with your knees and keep your arms loose. Brake gently with the rear, and use the front with care, especially when the bike is not upright. In bends, look far ahead and hold a steady throttle. Deeper gravel at the edges of the track is where the front wheel can wash out, so stay on the firmer lines left by car tyres. On a steep descent, go slowly in a low gear and let the engine hold the bike back. If the R nineT Scrambler goes down, check the sliders, the levers, the handlebar and the headlight, and remove any stones lodged around the front wheel.

Fitment and Compatibility

Only the 2016 R 1200 nineT Scrambler appears for the PF048 in Accossato's list, and no other year is given. If your R nineT Scrambler was built later, please ask us before ordering. You will find the same sliders in our shop under the R nineT, the R 1200 GS Adventure and the R 1250 GS. There is no other Accossato protection part for this model.

Road Approval

The PF048 comes to us without a German ABE and without test papers, so we list it as a part for competition and the racetrack.
