DescriptionThe whole story▼
Run a fingernail across the front disc of a Ducati Multistrada V2 that has done a few seasons, and it may catch in a series of fine circular grooves. Some scoring is part of normal wear. Deep grooves are a different story: they reduce the contact area of the pads, speed up wear and can hide a disc that is thinner than it looks. For the front wheel of the Multistrada V2 from 2022 to 2024, where most of the stopping happens, Accossato's answer is the DKS053, a floating disc whose 320 mm ring sits on a black carrier.
Key Features
- Floating front disc for the Ducati Multistrada V2, 2022 to 2024
- 320 mm ring, 5.5 mm thick, 72 mm centre
- Five fixing holes of 8.5 mm on a 90 mm circle
- Black carrier
- Accossato describes it as a replacement for the original disc
- Minimum thickness printed on the disc
- Alternative on Accossato's list: DK053 with a thinner ring
- Priced per disc; two are fitted at the front
Construction and Material Quality
Built as a floating disc, the DKS053 joins a 320 mm friction ring to a black carrier with rivets. The ring is 5.5 mm thick; the carrier fits the hub on a 72 mm centre, with five 8.5 mm holes spaced on a 90 mm circle. Accossato bases its range on what it learned in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and it names the choice of materials and the carefully studied play between carrier and ring as the reasons its discs stop the way they do.
Reading the Grooves
Grooves have causes, and finding the cause matters more than the grooves themselves. Fine, even scoring across the whole band usually comes from road dust and is normal. A few deep rings in one place suggest a hard particle embedded in a pad, or a pad worn through to its backing plate, which scores a disc quickly and needs attention at once. Grooves on only one of the two discs of the Multistrada V2 point to a problem on that side, such as a sticking piston or a contaminated pad.
To judge a scored disc, measure it where it is thinnest and compare the reading with the minimum printed on the disc. A groove deep enough to catch a fingernail firmly deserves a closer look even when the thickness is still within limits, because it concentrates wear on the pads. Accossato says discs should be replaced when they show deep scratches or cracks, when they fall below that figure, or after roughly thirty to forty thousand kilometres, whichever comes first. New pads on a deeply scored disc wear quickly and grip poorly, so change the two together.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DKS053 for the Multistrada V2 from 2022 to 2024 and the DK053, with a thinner ring, for the same bike; whichever you pick, left and right should match. The front wheel of the Multistrada V2 carries two discs. Tighten the bolts to Ducati's specification and let the new pads bed in before riding hard.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no type approval are recorded for the DKS053. It is offered for use at the track and in racing.
Scope of Delivery
