DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Ducati Diavel Carbon was the dressed-up version of Ducati's power cruiser, and its owners often treat it that way: washed, polished and kept under a cover. That care can work against the brakes when cleaning products land where they should not. Accossato's DKS053 is a floating front disc listed for the Diavel Carbon from 2011 to 2018. It measures 320 mm across and 5.5 mm in thickness, has a black carrier and, the supplier says, can take the place of the original disc without modification.
Key Features
- Floating front brake disc for the Ducati Diavel Carbon, 2011 to 2018
- 320 mm diameter, 72 mm bore, 5.5 mm thickness
- Black carrier, fixed through five 8.5 mm holes at a 90 mm hole-centre distance
- Friction ring joined to the carrier by rivets
- Interchangeable with the original equipment disc
- Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- Sold per disc; the bike has two front discs
- No German ABE documented, for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Seen through the spokes of the front wheel, the DKS053 shows two parts: a black carrier at the centre and a friction ring around it, held together by rivets. The carrier is bolted to the hub through five holes of 8.5 mm, which Accossato places on a 90 mm hole-centre distance, and the bore measures 72 mm. Because the ring floats, it can grow with heat without bending the carrier. Accossato, today based in Villastellone near Turin, explains that a disc worn too far may break under extreme stress, and it prints the minimum working thickness on every disc it sells.
Keep the Polish Off the Discs
Wax, silicone spray, tyre dressing and chain lube have one thing in common: on a brake disc they turn a firm stop into a slide. The risk is greatest on a bike that is cleaned often, such as a well-kept Diavel Carbon. Spray polish onto a cloth rather than towards the wheel, and shield the discs with a piece of card when you lubricate the chain or treat the tyres. If something has reached a disc, clean it with brake cleaner and a fresh cloth, and consider whether the pads were hit too; contaminated pads rarely recover and are better replaced. Before riding off, test the front brake at walking pace on the driveway.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's catalogue matches the DKS053 to the Diavel Carbon of 2011 to 2018. The bike carries two front discs, and the price is for one of them. No other Accossato disc is listed for the Diavel Carbon; on the clutch side, Accossato offers the ESH011 lever.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no documented type approval exist for this disc. We sell it for track riding and competition.
