DescriptionThe whole story▼
Almost every rider has done it once: a quick stop, a kick at the side stand, a leg swung off, and then the sickening lean as the bike keeps going because the stand never reached its end position. On a Scrambler Icon, whose low seat invites a relaxed, almost careless dismount, it happens as easily as on any bike. Accossato's TP090 crash pads, CNC-machined from aluminium with a coloured insert, are listed for the Scrambler Icon from 2015 to 2018.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Ducati Scrambler Icon, 2015 to 2018
- Accossato TP090, two pads
- Aluminium, CNC-machined
- Anodised insert in one of six colours
- Screw cover in the insert colour on request
- Drilling of the fairing needed on some bikes: please ask us first
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The TP090 is milled from aluminium on CNC machines, and each of the two pads in the pack carries an insert anodised in the colour of your choice. Blue, green, black, red, silver and gold are available, and the screw cover, if you order it, is finished in the same colour as the insert. On the Scrambler Icon, the pads are intended to take the first contact when the bike goes over, so that the frame and the parts around them are spared some of the damage. A pad that shows a heavy impact has done its work and is replaced.
Is the Stand Really Down?
The side stand is a simple part that gets very little attention until it lets you down. Push it out with your heel until you feel it stop, then lean the Scrambler Icon onto it deliberately and let the weight settle before you take your hands off the bars. Turning the bars towards the stand adds a little stability. If you cannot see the stand, feel for it: the bike should rest firmly, not hover. Dirt and old grease in the pivot make the stand stiff, so that it stops short of its end position, and a tired spring does the same. Clean and lightly grease the pivot now and then, and check the spring. A stand that has been bent in a fall should be replaced, not straightened by eye. The same care helps when you set off: fold the stand fully away before moving. If the bike does go over with the stand half out, check the pads first, then the stand itself.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the TP090 for the Scrambler Icon from 2015 to 2018, and we have linked it to exactly those years. According to Accossato, some motorcycles need holes drilled in the fairing for its crash pads, and the list does not say which; please ask us before ordering whether that affects your Scrambler Icon. The PF044 front and PP018 rear axle sliders are listed for the Icon too. In our shop, the same pads are catalogued for the Scrambler Classic, the Scrambler 1100 Special and the Hypermotard 950 SP.
Road Approval
Our files contain no ABE or test mark for the TP090, which is why we supply it for the track.
Scope of Delivery
Two TP090 pads in the insert colour you choose; the version with screw covers adds covers in the same colour.
