DescriptionThe whole story▼
Some of the most rewarding lunch stops on an Italian tour lie at the top of a hill: an old town, a narrow gateway, a lane of worn cobbles climbing to a piazza. For a rider on a loaded Turismo Veloce 800, those last few hundred metres are clutch work from beginning to end. Accossato's ESM048 replaces the original clutch lever of the Turismo Veloce 800 from 2014 to 2017. It is machined from aluminium, fits the original clutch mounting and lets you set its distance to the grip.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800, 2014 to 2017
- Mounts at the original clutch mounting
- Distance to the grip adjustable near the pivot
- Short, standard (approx. 138 mm) or long blade, depending on colour
- Anodised blade in seven colours, black hub
- Solid CNC-machined aluminium
- Fixed blade, no folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
The precision of a lever is concentrated in a few millimetres around its pivot. That is where the ESM048's black hub holds the bore that locates the lever on its mounting, together with the adjuster that sets the blade's resting position. Accossato machines the whole part from solid aluminium on CNC equipment, so those features are identical from lever to lever, and anodises it afterwards: black for the hub, your chosen colour for the blade. Beyond the hub, the blade continues as one rigid piece with no folding joint in it.
Up Into the Hill Towns
Hill towns were laid out long before motor traffic. Their lanes are steep, often cobbled, sometimes barely wider than a car, and they have a habit of ending in a tight turn or a stop sign exactly where the gradient is steepest. On the Turismo Veloce, with cases on and perhaps a passenger, the way up is first gear and a slipping clutch: enough drive to keep the bike moving, never so much that the rear tyre scrabbles on the stones. Stopping on the slope and moving off again needs the most care. Hold the bike on the rear brake, bring the clutch to the friction point with a touch of throttle, and release the brake only when you feel the bike begin to pull. A lever close enough for two fingers leaves the rest of the hand on the grip, and a long blade lightens the pull when you have to hold it for a while.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESM048 for the Turismo Veloce 800 from 2014 to 2017. It fits the clutch mounting the bike left the factory with and replaces the original lever. Its partner on the brake side is the EDF015, listed for the same years, with the same black hub and the same choice of colours.
Road Approval
No German ABE is recorded for this clutch lever, so we offer it for use on closed circuits.
