DescriptionThe whole story▼
Long tours on a 1290 Super Adventure S are made of fast roads, but the moments that test the rider tend to be slow ones: the queue at a toll booth, the steel ramp up into a ferry, the steep exit from a hotel's underground car park. In each of them a heavy, loaded motorcycle has to be moved at walking pace, and the clutch does most of the work. The Accossato ESA090 is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the 1290 Super Adventure S of 2017 to 2020, adjustable for reach and made in three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S, 2017 to 2020
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting
- Adjustable distance from the grip
- Long blade for a lighter pull in blue, gold, green and orange
- Short blade in the same four colours plus silver
- Standard length approximately 138 mm; black and red in this length only
- CNC-machined, anodised aluminium, black hub, rigid blade
Construction and Material Quality
The ESA090 is cut from aluminium on CNC machines and anodised, with the hub finished black and the blade in the colour of your choice; the hub carries the pivot and the reach adjuster. On a touring bike the controls are handled constantly, not only on the move but while loading luggage, filling up or pushing the bike into a parking space, and anodising stands up to that handling because the colour sits in the oxide layer rather than on top of it. From hub to tip the lever is one rigid piece, with no folding joint.
Ferry Ramps and Toll Queues
Ferry ramps are often wet, ribbed steel, and the crew waves you on at the pace of the car in front. Toll booths ask for a stop, a ticket or a card, and a start from rest with one glove half off. Hotel car parks combine tight turns with steep ramps. Each situation calls for the same skill: holding the clutch at the friction point for several seconds while the throttle stays steady and the rear brake sets the speed. A lever the fingers reach easily makes those seconds calmer. Set the ESA090 so that the fingers are bent, not stretched, when they rest on it, and consider the long blade for the lighter pull it gives at the end of a long travelling day. Riders with smaller hands may prefer the short blade. Either way, the 1290 Super Adventure S rolls up the ramp without drama.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the 1290 Super Adventure S, this product runs from 2017 to 2020 and fits at the original clutch mounting. Accossato dates its entry from before the S existed; we follow the model's actual introduction instead. On the other side of the bar, the EDD001 brake lever is listed for the same bike and years.
Road Approval
The ESA090 comes without a documented German ABE; we sell it for use on closed tracks.
