DescriptionThe whole story▼
The XV950 Racer takes the air-cooled V-twin and belt drive of Yamaha's XV950 cruiser and gives them café-racer style with lower bars. Yamaha presented the XV950 family as a base for personalisation, and many owners treat the Racer as the start of a project rather than a finished bike. The brake lever is an obvious place to begin. Accossato's EDF016, listed for the XV950 Racer in 2015 and 2016, is machined from aluminium, fits the original master cylinder and adjusts for its distance to the grip.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the Yamaha XV950 Racer, 2015 to 2016
- Replaces the stock lever on the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable to the grip
- Silver or black for a period look, five further colours
- Standard length approximately 138 mm, plus short and long blades
- Machined from aluminium and anodised; black hub
- Rigid blade, no folding mechanism
Construction and Material Quality
Custom builders like machined parts for a reason: CNC cutting leaves crisp edges and clean, even surfaces that look deliberate next to a hand-stitched seat or a brushed tank. The EDF016 is made this way, milled from aluminium and then anodised in two tones, the hub black and the blade in one of seven colours. Structurally it is a fixed lever, a single piece from the pivot to the tip without a folding joint, so the brake feels firm and direct at the fingers.
Where a Custom Build Begins
Most custom projects start small, with parts you touch and see on every ride, and levers are near the top of that list. On the XV950 Racer, the brake lever sits right in your field of view above the lower bars, so it shapes the look of the cockpit more than its size suggests. A black blade keeps things understated; silver suits a build that leans towards the café scene of the 1960s; gold or red add one confident accent. The practical side comes first, though: set the reach so the blade meets your fingers with the wrist straight, because the Racer's riding position puts more weight on the hands than the cruiser it is based on. A short blade, offered in five colours, keeps the cockpit compact and suits two-finger braking. If you later change bars or controls, the reach adjuster lets the lever follow.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF016 for the XV 950 Racer with the years 2015 and 2016. The lever takes the place of the stock blade on the Racer's original front master cylinder. If you have already fitted different bars or aftermarket controls, compare your set-up with the product photos. For the clutch side, Accossato makes the ESY688 for the XV950 Racer, also listed for 2015 to 2016.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for this EDF016, which is sold for the track.
