DescriptionThe whole story▼
Arriving at a circuit you have never ridden is one of the most rewarding parts of track days, and one of the most demanding. You do not know where the corners tighten, where the surface is bumpy or where the braking markers should be, and on a supersport bike like the ZX-6R the brake lever is at the centre of finding out. The Accossato EDF088 is a brake lever that Accossato lists for the Kawasaki ZX-6R across 1998 to 2026. CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised, it fits the original master cylinder, and its reach is adjustable.
Key Features
- Front brake lever listed for the Kawasaki ZX-6R, 1998 to 2026
- Entries for 600 and 636 versions in Accossato's list
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable close to the pivot
- Standard blade approx. 138 mm in all colours; short in five, long in four
- Anodised CNC-machined aluminium, black hub
- Fixed blade with no hinge
- No German ABE documented, sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Learning a track means changing one thing at a time, so the lever itself must not be a variable. The EDF088 has no folding joint: blade and hub are one rigid CNC-machined part that pivots only at the mounting, so the feel stays identical from lap to lap. Anodising gives the surface its colour and hardness. The hub, where the pivot and reach adjuster sit, is black on every version, and the blade is finished in the colour you select.
A Circuit You Have Never Ridden
Build a new circuit up in stages. Use the first laps to learn the layout at a moderate pace, braking early and gently, and pick reference points for each braking zone: a marker board, a change in the tarmac, the end of a kerb. Then move each braking point a little later, one corner at a time, keeping the squeeze progressive rather than suddenly harder. An instructor, or a faster rider to follow, is worth a great deal in the first sessions. What makes this work is a lever that feels the same on every lap, so the only thing that changes is where you brake. Set the EDF088 on the ZX-6R before the first session, in your race gloves and riding position, so two fingers meet the blade at the first joint, and then leave it. The short blade suits that two-finger grip and is made in blue, gold, green, orange and silver.
Fitment and Compatibility
Few levers cover such a span: Accossato gives the EDF088 for the ZX-6R from 1998 to 2026, with entries for 600 and 636 versions and for the Special Edition of 2015 and 2016. The ZX-6R has changed several times over that period, so compare your original lever and master cylinder with the product photos before ordering. The ESK828 clutch lever is listed for ZX-6R models from 2000 to 2026.
Road Approval
The EDF088 has no documented German ABE; it is sold for use on race circuits.
