DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Panigale 959 took over from the 899 in 2016 with a larger version of the Superquadro twin, and with the extra capacity came more of the engine braking that big twins are known for. Close the throttle and the bike is already slowing hard, so on the road the front brake often adds a measured amount rather than doing all the work. The Accossato EDF099 is a CNC-machined replacement for the brake lever of the 2016 to 2018 Panigale 959, fitted to the original master cylinder and adjustable in its distance to the grip.

Key Features

  • Replaces the front brake lever of the Panigale 959 (2016 to 2018)
  • Works with the original master cylinder
  • Reach adjuster close to the pivot
  • Seven blade colours with a black anodised hub
  • Standard length approximately 138 mm in every colour
  • Short and long versions in selected colours
  • Machined from solid aluminium, fixed construction
  • No documented German ABE, intended for the track

Construction and Material Quality

Every EDF099 pairs a black hub with a coloured blade, and the split follows function. The hub sits at the master cylinder, close to the right-hand switch housing, where a neutral finish keeps the area calm; the blade is the part you touch and see. Both are cut from solid aluminium on CNC machines before anodising, a process that builds a hard oxide layer out of the metal and takes the dye into it. The result is a fixed lever for the Panigale 959, with no joint anywhere along the blade.

Adding Brake to Engine Braking

On a fast road the 959 is often slowed by engine braking plus a light touch of front brake, and that light touch is where lever position matters most. When the blade sits close to the grip, the first part of its travel falls right under your fingertips, and adding brake becomes a question of pressure rather than of reaching. It is then easier to blend a gentle squeeze into the deceleration the twin already provides, without the nose diving as it does after a sudden grab. The standard blade keeps road-like leverage for this style of riding. The long blade spreads the effort across four fingers for riders who brake with the whole hand, and Accossato makes it in blue, gold, green and orange. Because the right hand has no stretching to do, blipping the throttle on a downshift while braking becomes simpler too.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the lever for the Panigale 959 from 2016 to 2018, naming the standard 959 as the version. It fits in place of the original brake lever on the stock master cylinder. Accossato's clutch lever for the same 959 model years is the ESH011, so both sides of the bar can be finished in one colour.

Road Approval

No German ABE is documented for the EDF099 on this bike, so we supply it for racetrack use.
