DescriptionThe whole story▼
The BMW R 1200 GS Adventure is the GS for journeys that go well beyond the reach of the next dealer: a larger fuel tank, a taller stance and equipment chosen for long distances on any surface. On trips like that, every part you change before departure should be one you understand completely. Accossato's EDB077 for the liquid-cooled R 1200 GS Adventure of 2014 to 2019 is exactly that kind of part: one piece of machined aluminium, with an adjustable distance to the grip and nothing that folds.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, 2014 to 2019
- Mounts on the original BMW front master cylinder
- Reach to the grip adjustable
- Three lengths, the standard one approximately 138 mm
- Machined from solid aluminium, anodised, seven blade colours
- Hub anodised black on every lever
- Fixed blade without a folding joint
- No German ABE on record; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Each EDB077 starts as a solid piece of aluminium, is machined on CNC equipment and is then anodised. The black hub carries the pivot and the adjuster, the coloured blade carries your fingers, and nothing sits between them that could work loose. On a long trip that simplicity has practical value, since there is no hinge to collect grit or develop play. The anodised surface also stands up to sun, rain and dust without the flaking that paint can show after months on the road.
Far From the Next Workshop
A fixed lever is a simple part, and simple parts are welcome in remote places. It also has an honest limitation. Because it does not fold, a fall onto the right side can bend or break it, just as it could the original lever. Experienced travellers handle that the same way whichever lever they fit: they keep the BMW lever they removed, wrap it in a cloth and carry it with the tool kit. Practise the swap once at home, so you know exactly which tools it needs before you are standing beside the R 1200 GS Adventure on a mountain track.
Before leaving, set the reach in the gloves you will wear for most of the trip and check that the brake light responds to the first movement of the blade. For a fully loaded R 1200 GS Adventure, the long blade gives four fingers room and more leverage in a hard stop, while the short one suits two-finger braking on technical off-road sections.
Fitment and Compatibility
Only the liquid-cooled R 1200 GS Adventure of 2014 to 2019 is on Accossato's list for the EDB077. The matching clutch lever for the same bikes is the ESC075, offered with the same black hub and the same seven colours. Earlier Adventure models are not covered by this listing, and the standard R 1200 GS has its own product.
Road Approval
We sell this lever for track use, because no German ABE is documented for it.
