DescriptionThe whole story

Owners of a Z1000 SE tend to find their front brake's limit on a road they do not know. That is the job of the T004: 71.5 by 50.0 mm of ceramic-sintered material, 8.5 mm deep, in the Tokico caliper. EXR is new for 2026 and succeeds EXC Endurance rather than sitting beside it in the T004.

Key Features

  • Selected by ZCOO for the Kawasaki Z1000 SE out of the sixteen shapes in the 2026 programme
  • Tested and specified for the 2014 to 2016 model years of the Kawasaki Z1000 SE, not extrapolated from a neighbouring year
  • Consistent lever travel as the pad thins, so the bite point on the Z1000 SE does not creep between services
  • Ceramic sintering keeps the coefficient of friction stable across the temperature swing a Z1000 SE sees in a single descent
  • Front axle only: ZCOO lists no rear pad under the T004 reference
  • Backed by the ZCOO 2026 catalogue listing for the Kawasaki Z1000 SE, 2014 to 2016

Construction and Material Quality

What sits behind the friction material on a T004 matters as much as the mixture itself. The T004 plate is laser-cut from an alloy chosen for stiffness at working temperature, not at room temperature. That is why the T004 holds a consistent contact patch deep into its service life.

Performance and Feel

EXR's headline claim is specific: up to twenty percent more braking force in the second phase of braking. That is the part of the zone where the pad has already absorbed most of its heat and the rider is still adjusting. With no fairing to lean into, the Z1000 SE rider needs the T004 to be predictable above all.

Fitment and Compatibility

ZCOO's fitment data gives the T004 for the Z1000 SE built between 2014 and 2016. The same T004 shape covers 18 further machines in the 2026 catalogue. Nothing in the ZCOO range fits the rear axle of the Z1000 SE. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 71.5 mm length and 50.0 mm height.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
