Two figures describe this element and only one of them is an advance. The P08 F1-85 medium carries a rated 15,000 l/m²/sec where the standard P08 for this same airbox is rated at 5,050, and it filters at 85 microns against the road weave's 80 — the wider of the two openings. That exchange is sound only where two things are true: the engine can draw the extra litres, and the service regime is frequent enough that a wider opening never adds up to anything. A CFMOTO CL-C 450 used on public roads meets neither, and the straight recommendation for such a machine is the road medium. The PM270S F1-85 exists for the few of these bikes that are actually raced.
Key Features
- The highest flow figure Sprint Filter publishes, a rated 15,000 l/m²/sec
- Filtration at 85 microns: wider than the road weave, and deliberately so
- Dry polyester from first fitting onward — no oil when new, none after a wash
- About twice the working surface of an ordinary performance element
- Sits in the series airbox where the paper panel sat; no cutting, no remap
- Cleaned with compressed air, two-year warranty, built to stay with the bike
Capacity is not consumption
A flow rating states what a square metre of material can pass, not what an engine removes from it. Demand is fixed elsewhere — by throttle body diameter, by valve timing, and above all by how many seconds in a year the throttle is truly wide open. On the road that quantity is very small, and within it the standard weave already hands over every litre asked of it. Under those conditions a 450 draws exactly the same air through the racing cloth as through the road one, because the road one was never the restriction. Close to three times the price of the standard element then buys reserve nothing calls upon.
Where the answer turns
The case changes when the maintenance changes. In competition the engine comes apart on an hour count rather than a mileage, the element is seen between sessions instead of between seasons, and the air above a swept circuit carries far less than a public road does, so a coarser opening is inspected long before it can matter. It also helps if intake, exhaust and mapping have already been opened up. What none of it does is add output: a bolt-in filter will not make a series CL-C 450 noticeably stronger, whichever cloth is in the box.
Care and cleaning
Nothing is ever applied to this element — no oil, no dressing, no solvent. Compressed air on the clean face, worked outward, returns the PM270S F1-85 to service in the ordinary case. Where a hard weekend leaves a film that air will not take, lukewarm water with a little mild detergent lifts it; rinse until it comes away clear. Drying is done by air and patience alone, never by a heat gun or a flame, and the panel goes back into the box dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab on this page.

Cut for the airbox of the CFMOTO CL-C 450 as built from 2024 to 2026, one element per machine. Three further CFMOTO models share the housing and the part number; the complete list is in the Fitment tab.
