Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Zontes ZT 155G (2020–2026) SM276S

Two numbers describe this element, and they are easy to read the wrong way round. Filtration is quoted at 80 microns; flow at 5,050 litres per square metre per second. The second one is a rate per unit of area, not a total — which means the amount of air an element will pass depends as much on how much of it there is as on how open the weave is. That distinction is the whole design of the P08, and on a ZT 155G, sitting in the middle of a fitment list that runs from 125 to 200 cm³, it is the part worth understanding before anything else.

Area, not aperture

There are two ways to move more air through a filter. You can open the holes, which costs retention in the same movement and applies every second the engine runs. Or you can give the air more surface to cross, which costs nothing in filtration and shows up only as a larger piece of fabric. Sprint Filter took the second route, which is why a medium that holds 93.13 % of 100-micron particles still flows freely inside a small case. It also explains why the mesh figure and the fibre figure must never be confused: 80 µm describes the gaps, 22 µm the threads bordering them.

What that buys on the road

Not power. A 155 with a standard exhaust, standard cams and standard mapping is not limited by its air filter, and the SM276S will not alter a single figure on the type approval. The gain is in how the restriction behaves over time. Every gram the weave collects sits on twice the area, so the same load lies thinner and takes far longer to become resistance — and when it does, an air line takes it back to the beginning. Paper only travels in one direction, and the odometer is not a reliable clock for it either: it is the volume of air passed, not the distance covered, that ages a filter.

Care and cleaning

Work compressed air from the clean face outwards until the fabric is clear; that is the standard service and it can be repeated as often as you like. For an oily or sticky deposit, lukewarm water and a mild detergent will lift it — rinse until nothing comes out and let the element dry fully in open air. No heat, no flame, no refitting while damp, and nothing applied to the fabric afterwards. The SM276S maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
