DescriptionThe whole story▼
One hundred and fourteen decibels. Spark prints the number rather than hiding it, and it tells you exactly what the Grid-O version of its CBR 1000 RR-R system is for: markets and series where no noise ceiling applies.
Key Features
- Full titanium racing system for the Honda CBR 1000 RR-R, 2020 to 2026.
- 114 dB at 6,500 rpm without the dB killer — the loudest configuration Spark offers on this bike.
- Grid-O silencer: full titanium, visible TIG welding, the 2020 Moto2 world champion case.
- Titanium collector with diameters designed for this engine.
- Twelve decibels above the Force Evo version.
- dB killer can be added to reduce the level.
Twelve Decibels Is a Lot
Spark's four silencers for this system read 102, 105, 112 and 114 dB at 6,500 rpm. The gap between the quietest and this one is twelve decibels, which on a logarithmic scale is a very large difference in sound energy — not a matter of character but of category.
What that buys is the least obstructed exhaust path Spark builds for the CBR, and the sound that comes with it. What it costs is access: a great many European circuits now measure at the gate, and a 114 dB system will not pass most published limits without the dB killer fitted.
Welds as Evidence
The Grid-O carries its TIG welds unground on the outside of the case. That is not a shortcut — a ground weld hides its own quality, and a race silencer is a part that gets sectioned, repaired and inspected between rounds.
It is also the silencer that won the 2020 Moto2 world championship, built entirely in titanium. On a full titanium system the two match: the collector shows the same handbuilt construction, and nothing on the motorcycle pretends to be a moulded part.
Titanium All the Way Forward
Unlike the stainless-collector versions, this system is titanium from the head flange back. The collector is the hardest section to build in titanium and the most exposed to damage, which is why cheaper systems use stainless there.
The reason to pay for it is where the weight sits: the collector is the heaviest single part of a four-cylinder exhaust and it hangs low and forward, under the engine and ahead of the rider. Mass removed from there is felt in how the bike turns rather than on a scale.
Fitment & Compatibility
Honda CBR 1000 RR-R, 2020 through 2026. The Moto GP version of the same titanium system is GHO8837T at 112 dB. The stainless-collector systems with the Force Evo are GHO8835T at 102 dB and GHO8845T with the longer 450 mm case.
Road Approval
None. No EC certificate, no catalytic converter, and a noise level above what any European road standard permits. Closed circuits without a decibel limit.
