An adjuster that turns without resistance has lost its detent; the setting is then guesswork. Hydraulic preload adjusters are sealed units and are replaced rather than opened. Electronically controlled adjusters replace the needle with a solenoid but keep the same hydraulics.

Original Öhlins Part

Parts remain available years after a unit leaves the current price list, which is unusual in this trade. Öhlins supports its suspension with individual service parts, which is why a fifteen-year-old damper can still be rebuilt to specification. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask.

Identifying the Right Part

Part number 04763-15 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. This position has no published dimension, so the part number is the only reliable identifier. Hydraulic preload adjusters are sealed and pressurised; they are replaced as a unit. Click adjusters work through a needle in a seat; the detent spring gives the clicks their feel.

Fitting and Setup Service

A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 04763-15

Category: Preload Tubes

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/04763-15_3362de48-1fce-44cc-8df9-76eabb20a830.png?v=1788873307
