DescriptionThe whole story▼
Needle 2.5/10-bleed, Öhlins part number 02217-12. An adjuster that turns without resistance has lost its detent; the setting is then guesswork.
Key Features
- Original Öhlins service part
- Öhlins part number 02217-12
- Dimension B 10 mm
- Dimension A 2.5 mm
What It Is
Dimensionally this is 2.5 mm, 10 mm, which is how it is told apart from the rest of the range. A worn adjuster loses its clicks, and with them any chance of a methodical setup. Hydraulic preload adjusters are sealed units and are replaced rather than opened. The needle tip is the wear part: once rounded, the first few clicks stop doing anything.
Original Öhlins Part
Every part in this catalogue is one Öhlins fits itself during assembly and service. Öhlins publishes dimensions for its service parts so a workshop can verify before it fits. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on. If you are unsure which number your unit takes, send us the model and serial number of the damper and we will look it up.
Identifying the Right Part
Öhlins identifies this position by the number 02217-12 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. The published dimensions are dimension a 2.5 mm, dimension b 10 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Compression and rebound adjusters are not interchangeable even when they look similar. Electronically controlled adjusters replace the needle with a solenoid but keep the same hydraulics.
Fitting and Setup Service
Fitting service parts means opening a pressurised unit. As an authorised Öhlins service centre we do that here, with the right tools and a dyno check afterwards — just ask.
