DescriptionThe whole story▼
Cylinder tube 36/145, Öhlins part number 04300-35. The tube is what the whole damper is built around: everything else references its bore.
Key Features
- Diameter 36 mm
- Length 145 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
- Öhlins part number 04300-35
Function
Öhlins publishes 36 mm, 145 mm for 04300-35 — the dimensions are the identity of the part. Reservoir tubes carry the gas charge and are built to the same standard as the working cylinder. A tube that has been bottomed hard often shows a ring mark; that is a reason to replace it. The tube carries the end cap threads, so damaged threads mean a new tube rather than a repair.
Why the Original
An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. The tolerances here are the ones the unit was assembled to, not a pattern equivalent's interpretation of them. Tell us the damper's model designation and year and we will match the number for you. Service parts are ordered per piece unless stated otherwise.
How to Be Sure It Fits
04300-35 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. The published dimensions are diameter 36 mm, length 145 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. The cylinder is one of the few damper parts that is genuinely wear-limited. Corrosion inside a tube is terminal: it cannot be honed out without changing the clearance.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
