Construction and Material Quality
Nylon forms the outside of the WAPYA415; the material is elastic enough to take repeated knocks. Behind the nylon is an Ergal insert that carries the load into the axle. LighTech sells the coloured inner part in pairs, so the WAPYA415 is a serviceable assembly.
The Idea Behind It
An axle protector works by standing further out than the part it defends. On the WAPYA415 the Ergal core takes the load path while the nylon takes the abrasion. The coloured insert is sold in pairs, so a damaged TRACER 9 is back to standard for small money.
Fitting
The WAPYA415 goes onto the TRACER 9 with the bike on a stand and nothing dismantled. Offer the WAPYA415 up before tightening anything; the TRACER 9 fairing line decides the final position. The WAPYA415 comes in 4 finishes — Black, Blue, Gold, Red — and the colour makes no difference to the fit on the TRACER 9.
