DescriptionThe whole story▼

The 689 cc MT-07 shows everything, which also means everything is exposed. The STEYA212 separates the hard outer ring from the frame mount with a TPE element of 60 Shore hardness. Nothing on the MT-07 has to be cut or drilled; the standard points carry the kit.

Key Features

  • Nylon shell with a laser-branded LighTech logo as the STEYA212 sliding face
  • Metric hardware throughout the STEYA212, so a MT-07 workshop needs nothing special
  • Supplied complete with the hardware the MT-07 installation needs
  • Magnesium oscillation bush in the STEYA212 allows a controlled amount of movement
  • Designed around the MT-07 specifically rather than adapted from another model
  • Fitting the STEYA212 to a MT-07 is measured in minutes, not hours
  • Magnesium base keeps the overhung mass off the MT-07 frame boss

Construction

The face that meets the road on the MT-07 is machined aluminium. The oscillation bush and the bottom section are magnesium, which matters at the end of a lever arm. The nylon shell is the sacrificial surface: it scuffs first and costs least to renew.

Why a Damped Slider

Every protector transmits what it does not absorb, and the frame boss is where it lands. A damper at 60 Shore is firm enough to hold its shape and soft enough to flatten. The frame mount of the MT-07 then sees a flattened load curve instead of a spike.

Compatibility and Installation

This listing covers the Yamaha MT-07 only; sister models carry their own part numbers. Installation uses the factory fixings on the MT-07; the supplied hardware replaces them.

Installation

The 620 g of the STEYA212 arrive as one boxed kit for the MT-07. Torque to the MT-07 workshop figures rather than to feel. No colour decision is needed: the STEYA212 for the MT-07 exists in Black.

What Is in the Box

At 620 g the STEYA212 arrives complete: rings, bushes, dampers, shells, pins, spacers. Spare elements for the STEYA212 are listed separately, which keeps a repair cheap on a MT-07.

Road Approval

We list the STEYA212 without an approval claim because LighTech supplies none. Whether the fitted position is acceptable on a road-registered MT-07 is the inspector's call, not ours. Road use needs the question answered; paddock and circuit use do not.
