DescriptionThe whole story▼
If you want to extract genuine performance from your Ducati Panigale V4 without committing to a full suspension overhaul, the K-Tech DDS Closed Cartridge Kit is one of the most cost-effective and transformative upgrades available. Designed to fit the Panigale V4 from 2018 to 2024, this closed cartridge system replaces the factory internals with fully adjustable, race-proven damping technology that works just as well on a Sunday morning road ride as it does on a full circuit day.
Key Features
- 20 mm inner piston promotes high oil flow for precise, responsive damping across all conditions
- Independent compression and rebound circuits — 30 clicks each — allow fine, asymmetric tuning without compromise
- Patented anti-cavitation design maintains consistent damping performance under sustained hard use, where standard cartridges fade
- 18 mm preload adjustment range for dialling in sag to your exact weight and riding style
- Increased stroke compared to the original cartridge improves damping efficiency and feel through long, high-speed compressions
- Race-pedigree design used in the British Superbike Championship and at the Isle of Man TT
Everyday Usability and Real-World Value
Unlike many race-only suspension upgrades, the K-Tech DDS cartridge kit is genuinely practical for road use. The wide 30-click adjustment range on both compression and rebound means you can set the fork up softly for a relaxed road commute, then firm everything up for a track day — all without removing a wheel. Three pairs of springs are included in the kit along with the necessary installation tools, so you are not sourcing ancillaries separately. The suggested baseline settings (compression 16 clicks, rebound 18 clicks, preload 10 mm, oil-air gap 185 mm) give you a strong starting point straight out of the box, saving time and guesswork during initial setup.
DDS System: How It Works
K-Tech's DDS (Damper Design System) uses a closed cartridge architecture with independent damping circuits. Because compression and rebound are handled by separate, asymmetric valving stacks, adjusting one parameter does not inadvertently alter the other — a limitation that plagues many conventional cartridge designs. The 20 mm piston bore allows a high volume of oil to pass through, reducing heat build-up and the cavitation that causes inconsistent fork action during repeated heavy braking events. The result is a fork that feels the same on lap one as it does on lap twenty.
Fitment and Compatibility
This kit is designed exclusively for the Ducati Panigale V4 S model, covering model years 2018 through 2024. It is not a universal cartridge; the geometry, spring series (36-260), and dimensions are engineered specifically around the Panigale V4 S fork architecture. Installation requires specialist tools and techniques — K-Tech strongly recommends fitting by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre to ensure optimum performance and safety.
