Written Into the Regulations
Rear rain lights are mandatory in most European road racing and track day organisations once a session is declared wet. The rule exists because spray from a supersport machine at racing pace makes the bike behind effectively blind.
Switched From the Bar
The light has to be turned on by the rider without dismounting, usually on the grid or leaving the pit lane. Integrating the control into the left cluster avoids adding another switch to a cockpit that already has a lap timer on it.
Part of a Pair
The kit works with JetPrime's race cluster for the same motorcycle rather than independently, which is why the part numbers share a base. Ordered alone it leaves a control with nothing to switch.
The R6 in the Rain
Supersport machines are ridden in wet sessions because the championships do not stop for weather. A 2017 R6 at racing pace throws enough water to hide itself entirely from a rider fifty metres back.
Wet Gloves, Fogged Visor
The rain light is switched at the moment a rider is least able to feel anything. A machined step around the control gives the thumb a boundary that soaked leather does not obscure.
Sealed by Definition
A component that exists for wet riding has to keep water out. Sealed switch elements inside a body milled from one block, with no moulded joint anywhere for water to enter.
Black Anodised
One finish. On a race bike a cockpit that gives the eye nothing to catch is easier to read, and black is the option that disappears entirely.
