DescriptionThe whole story▼
MV Agusta built the F4 around a shape, and then spent fifteen years refining what sat behind it. What never got refined was the ignition lock — a heavy, conventional barrel on a motorcycle where nothing else is conventional. The JP KS MV001 replaces it across the whole 2010–2018 run, from the base F4 to the RC and the LH homage models.
Key Features
- Covers seven F4 variants on one part number, including F4R, F4RR, F4RC and F4RC LH
- Deletes the ignition barrel and key from the top yoke
- Roughly 350 g lighter than the MV Agusta original
- Solid Ergal billet, anodised black, with an IP69K push button
- Key Box supplied for the F4's immobiliser system
- Fits the standard mounting points — no modification to the motorcycle
One Number Across the Family
MV changed a great deal between an F4 1000 S and an F4RC: engine internals, electronics, bodywork, even the frame plates. The ignition mounting was left alone. That is why JetPrime lists a single switch for the F4, F4R 1000, F4RR 1000, F4RC 1000, F4RC LH 1000, the F4 1000 S and the Frecce Tricolori — and it is useful to know if you run more than one of them.
Materials
Ergal is the Italian name for 7075 aluminium, the alloy used where a part has to be light and still carry load. Machining the housing from solid rather than casting it keeps the wall sections thin without losing stiffness. The button is rated IP69K, which covers high-pressure hot-water cleaning at close range — the realistic test for a switch that lives exposed on the yoke.

None. This part is sold for closed-circuit and competition use. Removing the ignition lock takes the motorcycle outside its road type approval.
Before You Order
The F4 ran two distinct electrical generations across this period, and MV changed connectors more than once on other systems. The ignition connector did not change, which is why one part number covers 2010 to 2018 — but if your F4 has had a race loom fitted at some point in its life, check that the standard ignition plug is still in place before ordering. With the factory connector present this is a plug-in job; without it, it is not.
