DescriptionThe whole story▼
Engineered exclusively for track use, the Hesterberg-Cad/Cam rear brake caliper bracket with 84mm spacing is a precision CNC-machined component built to make rear wheel changes on the Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M faster, cleaner and far less error-prone. Designed to cover all RN32, RN49 and RN65 variants from 2015 through 2026, this is the bracket that serious trackday and racing paddocks demand.
Key Features
- CNC-machined from high-grade 7075-T6 aluminium for an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio
- 84mm caliper bolt spacing accepts a wide range of aftermarket brake calipers
- Quick-release system dramatically simplifies rear wheel removal and refitting in the paddock or pit lane
- Interfaces with the chain tensioner to keep the caliper securely positioned and prevent it dropping during wheel changes
- Available in natural or anodised black finish to suit your build aesthetic
- Drilling template for chain tensioner thread positions included in the box
Designed for the Demands of Track Use
On the Yamaha R1 at a circuit, lap times are only part of the story. How quickly and confidently your crew can swap a rear tyre between sessions is just as important. The Hesterberg-Cad/Cam quick-release rear caliper bracket addresses exactly that. By connecting the caliper anchor to the chain tensioner, the caliper stays under control throughout the wheel removal process — no dropped pads, no fumbling, no unnecessary delays.
The bracket is manufactured from aluminium 7075-T6, the same alloy used in high-load aerospace and motorsport applications, and is CNC-machined to tight tolerances for a repeatable, rattle-free fit every time it goes back on.
Caliper Compatibility and Fitment Notes
This bracket accepts aftermarket brake calipers with an 84mm bolt-centre spacing. For best results, a CNC-machined caliper — such as a compatible HEL unit — is recommended over budget cast alternatives. Cast calipers with wider manufacturing tolerances can sometimes present clearance issues around the rear hub, which may require additional machining. With forged wheels, any compatible caliper fits without further modification.
When fitting to the standard Yamaha wheels, the shielding ring behind the brake disc must be machined to clear the new bracket. A new brake line is also required regardless of wheel type. Thread holes must be drilled and tapped into the chain tensioner; a dimensioned drilling template is supplied to guide this operation. Installation should be carried out by qualified personnel familiar with brake system work.
Why an Aftermarket Caliper Rather than the OEM Unit?
The original Yamaha rear caliper presents a well-known frustration during trackday tyre changes: brake pads are prone to shifting or falling out the moment the wheel is removed, turning what should be a swift swap into a time-consuming rebuild. The Hesterberg-Cad/Cam system, paired with an appropriate aftermarket caliper, eliminates that problem. The result is a more relaxed, controlled wheel change with fewer potential failure points and a setup that suits professional racing paddock workflows.
Important Safety and Usage Notes
- No road-use type approval or certificate of conformity exists for this component
- For track use only — not approved for use on public roads
- A new brake line is required upon installation
- When using original Yamaha wheels, the shielding ring behind the brake disc must be machined
- Thread holes must be added to the chain tensioner using the supplied drilling template
- Installation by qualified personnel is strongly recommended
