DescriptionThe whole story▼

A cruiser used for real travel meets real weather, and the Yamaha XV950R of 2019 and 2020 is often loaded with a roll bag and ridden well beyond the local café. For owners who ride it through spring rain and autumn chill, Accossato offers the AGPA71 front pad in the Sintered compound, SKU AGPA71ST. It is chosen for a front brake that stays the same in character from a cold, damp start to a warm afternoon, which matters on a bike with just one front disc.

Key Features

  • Sintered (ST) front pad, SKU AGPA71ST
  • Yamaha XV950R, 2019 to 2020
  • Accossato: high grip that stays even across temperatures
  • Accossato: strong bite on a wet disc
  • For travel through rain and cold
  • One set of two pads for the front caliper
  • Rear pad AGPP121 listed

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's claim for the Sintered compound is a high level of grip that remains constant from low to high temperatures, together with good performance in the wet. On the single front disc of the XV950R, where there is no second caliper to share the load, that consistency is welcome. Accossato also speaks of slow wear and limited fade; we note it here once.

Touring on a Single Disc

A bike with one front disc concentrates all its front braking in a single caliper. On a long ride through changing weather, that caliper heats up, cools down and gets wet, sometimes all within an hour. A Sintered pad on the XV950R is intended to keep the lever feel steady through all of that, so the rider does not need to adjust to a different brake after every shower. It suits travellers with a roll bag and anyone who rides through the whole year. For dry, short trips around town, OR is the gentler choice.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato assigns AGPA71 to the front of the Yamaha XV950R for the 2019 and 2020 model years, naming it XV 950 R in its list. A single box covers the one front caliper. For the back of the XV950R, the matching Accossato pad is AGPP121 for the same years. Road spray carries grit into the caliper, so brush it out before pushing the pistons back, then bed the new set in with a series of gentle stops on a dry stretch before heading into the rain.

Road Approval

We hold no ABE or approval test for this pad, so it is sold for racing and competition.

Scope of Delivery
