DescriptionThe whole story▼
Clay behaves like a different material once it dries. What was thrown onto the bars as a soft spray in the morning is a hard shell by the evening, and it sets around exactly the parts that need to move: the gap between blade and perch, the pivot, the face where the lever meets the piston. A 250XCF-W that is put away in that state comes out of the shed stiff. Accossato lists the AGS14 for it from 2006 to 2016, a silver clutch lever in the original form.
Key Features
- Clutch lever in the original form for the KTM 250XCF-W
- Accossato's entry covers 2006 to 2016
- Silver
- Left of the handlebar, clutch side
- An original spare parts type rather than a performance part
- The maker reports greater resistance after damage or collisions
- A single lever
- No German ABE or test mark documented; racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
A plain part is easier to keep clean, and that is not a trivial advantage on a bike used in mud. The AGS14 reproduces the shape of the clutch lever fitted to the 250XCF-W, so there are no additional edges or fittings to trap dirt and nothing about the cockpit changes after a repair. Accossato developed the range as original spare parts types with an eye on the price of a routine job, and states that the production method used leaves these levers more resistant once they have suffered damage or a fall. The colour listed is silver, and the manufacturer publishes no further technical detail.
Mud That Sets Hard
There is an order of work that makes a muddy bike easy and a wrong order that makes it a chore. Start while the mud is still soft: a bucket and a gentle hose before the bike goes in the van, or at least a soaking as soon as it comes out, so that the shell never forms. Keep water pressure away from the switch housings and work the clutch lever a few times while the area is wet, which pushes the worst of the grit out of the gap rather than in. Once it is dry, run a finger between the blade and the perch to check that nothing is packed in there, then take the lever off and clean the bolt and bore properly; mud that has set in a pivot cannot be flushed out with a hose and will polish the bore oval if it is left. Grease both surfaces lightly before assembly and check that the lever falls back on its own. If the blade has been bent in a fall, replace it rather than straightening it, because worked metal cracks unpredictably and a clutch lever that lets go halfway up a climb puts the rider on the ground. Owners of a 250XCF-W who ride in clay routinely tend to keep a spare in the van for exactly that reason, and they change levers when the pivot starts to feel notchy rather than waiting for the day when one breaks.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the AGS14 is the clutch lever for the 250XCF-W from 2006 to 2016, with the AGD316 covering the brake side from 2014 to 2016; each half of the bar carries a single entry. The clutch code is used across the wider family and is listed in our catalogue for the Beta RR 390 4T, the Husqvarna FC 250 and the Husqvarna TC 250 as well. Accossato's CNC levers for this model are the B8283 and the C7283, if a tuning part is wanted instead of a spare.
Road Approval
No test certificate or approval document for the AGS14 is held by us, since none was supplied, so we make no claim to a German ABE and list the lever for racing and competition.
