A motorcycle on its side stand leans to the left, and when it falls, it usually carries on in that direction. That is why so many bikes found lying in a car park have a damaged clutch lever and an untouched brake lever. The Multistrada 1200, a tall adventure tourer, is no exception: if the stand sinks, slips or is knocked, the left end of the handlebar takes the impact. For the Multistrada 1200 of 2010 to 2016, with and without ABS, Accossato lists the AGS199, a silver replacement clutch lever of the original type.

Construction and Material Quality
The AGS199 is made to look and work like the lever it replaces, not to change the character of the controls. Accossato calls it a spare part of the original type and says it was designed to give customers good value for money. According to the company, the manufacturing process behind these levers also means they hold up better after they have been knocked or the bike has fallen. The colour is silver, as Accossato lists it for the Multistrada 1200. Beyond that the maker gives no technical data, so there is nothing further we can responsibly add.
Why Parked Bikes Fall to the Left
On level ground, a side stand holds the bike at a slight angle, with part of its weight on the stand and the rest on the two tyres. Several things can upset that balance. On soft ground the foot of the stand sinks, the lean increases and at some point the bike goes over. On a road that falls away to the left, the angle may be too steep from the start. And a push from a passer-by, a car door or another rider's bike can do the rest. In each case the Multistrada 1200 lands on its left side, and the clutch lever, the mirror and the footrest carry the load. A few habits prevent most of this: choose firm and level ground, leave the bike in first gear, turn the handlebar fully to the left, and carry a small plate to put under the stand on grass or gravel. If you do find the bike lying down, lift it with your legs rather than your back, and check the clutch lever before you ride. A lever that is bent or cracked should be replaced.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Multistrada 1200, Accossato names two replacement clutch levers: the silver AGS199 for 2010 to 2016 and the black AGS200 for 2010 to 2017. For a 2017 bike, only the black one is listed. For earlier years, the colour of the lever on your bike decides, and a comparison with the product photos confirms it. The clutch on the Multistrada 1200 is hydraulic, so there is no cable to adjust; after fitting, check that the lever moves the master cylinder piston cleanly and returns freely. The matching brake lever is the black AGD209. The AGS199 is also listed with us for the Diavel, the Monster 1200 and the XDiavel, and Accossato's CNC clutch lever ESH011 is the tuning alternative.
