DescriptionThe whole story▼
There is an old paddock habit that saves a great deal of money: the clamp holding the brake perch is done up firmly, but never so hard that the perch can no longer move. In a fall a clamp that turns takes the force out of the blade; one tightened until the threads complain passes all of it on. A 150SX gets dropped often enough for the difference to show up in a season's bills. Accossato lists the AGD316 for this machine from 2014 to 2022, a silver front brake lever in the original form.
Key Features
- Front brake lever in the original form for the KTM 150SX
- Accossato's entry runs from 2014 to 2022
- Silver
- Right-hand side of the handlebar
- An original spare parts type, priced as a repair rather than a tuning part
- Accossato reports better resistance after damage or a fall
- One lever per pack
- No German ABE or test mark on file; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
What Accossato offers here is shape rather than novelty. The AGD316 follows the outline of the brake lever the 150SX carried when it left the factory, so the fingers meet the blade at the angle they already know and nothing in the cockpit has to be relearned after a repair. The company groups the range under what it calls an original spare parts type and built it around the cost of an everyday job; it also states that the way these levers are produced leaves them more resistant once they have taken damage or a collision. Silver is the colour given for this fitment. Beyond that nothing is published, and nothing is invented here.
Tight Enough, Not Tighter
The clamp that holds the brake perch to the bar is the fastener most riders overdo. The reasoning seems sound: a control that moved in a crash must have been loose. In practice the opposite is closer to the truth. An off-road cockpit is meant to give way, because a perch that rotates on impact turns a heavy landing into a scuff and five minutes of setting up, while one that cannot move sends the load straight into the blade, into the master cylinder and sometimes into the bar. Getting this right is a matter of feel. Tighten until the perch stays exactly where you put it under hard braking, then stop. Sit on the 150SX and shove the assembly with the heel of your hand: it should hold against anything a rider can do and surrender to anything the ground can do. While you are there, look at the bar under the clamp, because years of crushing force leave marks worth watching. Fit the new blade with a cleaned, lightly greased pivot so that it swings back on its own, and set the lever angle with your hands on the grips and your weight on the pegs rather than with the bike standing on a stand. A rider who spends most of the lap standing wants the blade lower than it looks right in the garage.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato catalogues the AGD316 for the 150SX from 2014 to 2022. The left side of this bike carries two entries, the AGS14 from 2016 to 2022 and the AGS17 from 2009 to 2018, so a machine from the middle seasons appears under both and the fitted part has to decide; on the brake side there is only this code. The AGD316 also appears in our catalogue for the Husqvarna TC 125, the TC 250 and the TE 250. Anyone who would rather have a tuning part than a spare will find Accossato's CNC levers for the 150SX under B8283, C7283 and C7284.
Road Approval
No approval paperwork reached us with the AGD316, which means no German ABE and no test mark can be quoted, and the lever is listed for racing and competition use.
