DescriptionThe whole story▼

There is a natural moment for new rear pads, and it is the day the rear wheel is out for something else. A tyre change, a fresh chain and sprockets, a look at the cush drive rubbers: the caliper is already within reach, the disc is in your hands, and the pads add minutes rather than an evening to the job. Accossato's AGPA42 is the rear pad set for the Aprilia RSV4 RF of 2015 to 2020, and this listing carries the Organic (OR) compound.

Key Features

  • Organic (OR) rear brake pads for the Aprilia RSV4 RF, model years 2015 to 2020
  • Accossato reference AGPA42; the box holds the pair for the rear caliper
  • A compound for controlled everyday work rather than for the hottest track use
  • Accossato says the organic mix goes on working for a long time and asks little of the disc
  • Sintered and ceramic racing versions of the same pad are listed as well
  • Accossato catalogues the DKS032 disc under this model
  • Pads are changed as a complete set per axle
  • No German ABE or test mark on record; racing and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

The organic compound is the one Accossato describes as going on working for a long time while asking little of the disc, and those two claims settle where it belongs. On the rear of an RSV4 RF the brake spends its life at modest temperatures and moderate pressure, which is exactly the environment in which long-lived material shows its worth. The approach across the range is the same wherever a pad ends up: retardation the rider can rely on, wear that stays slow, and a friction mix that will not let its own heat get out of hand. At the back of a superbike the last of those is rarely tested; the first two are what you are paying for.

While the Rear Wheel Is Off

A wheel out of the swingarm is an invitation to look at everything around it. Check the disc for scoring and for a lip at its outer edge, examine the pad seats in the caliper and clean them properly, and make sure the new pads slide in without being forced. Turn the caliper over and inspect the dust seals as well; the rear one on a machine like this collects road film and chain fling in equal measure, and both shorten the life of everything they touch.

Keep the disc clean while you work. Fingers leave grease behind, chain lubricant leaves something worse, and a disc contaminated during assembly will announce itself the first time the brake is used in earnest. When everything is back together, spin the wheel to confirm it turns freely, then press the pedal until it comes up solid before the RSV4 RF returns to the ground. A short ride with a few deliberate applications settles the fresh material against the disc.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the AGPA42 for the Aprilia RSV4 RF from 2015 to 2020, and one box completes the rear caliper. Keep the pads you remove until the new ones are in place so that the outlines can be compared, and fit both at once rather than saving a part-worn one for later. Accossato's disc programme includes the DKS032 for this model. Whatever is behind your new pads, measure it for thickness and look for an even surface before the caliper is closed up.

Road Approval

No German ABE and no test mark are on file for these pads, so we offer them for racing and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

One box with two AGPA42 pads in the Organic compound, the set a rear caliper takes.
