DescriptionThe whole story▼

The XRT is the road-oriented flagship of the Tiger 800 line, but many owners still take it down gravel roads to reach a campsite, a mountain hut or a viewpoint. For the 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 XRT, Accossato lists front pad AGPA29 in its Off-road sintered (STMX) compound. It is aimed at the rider whose journeys regularly include unpaved sections, dust and puddles, and who wants a front brake designed for dirt as well as tarmac.

Key Features

  • AGPA29STMX front pad for off-road use
  • Listed for the 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 XRT
  • Accossato's compound for riders who go off-road
  • For gravel roads, dusty tracks and puddles
  • Two pads per box, one front caliper
  • Also made as OR, ST and EV1

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato describes STMX simply as its compound for off-road riders. The firm's history is rooted in off-road sport, with an Enduro world title in 1985, and this mix carries that background. For its pads in general, Accossato claims low wear, fade resistance through limited heat and strong stopping power.

Gravel on the Way

An XRT on tour might meet a long gravel road to a mountain pass, a dusty farm track or a flooded dirt lane. Dust and grit get between pad and disc, mud clings to the caliper, and water cools the brakes suddenly. The STMX pad is designed for riders who meet such conditions often. After a dusty or muddy day, rinse the calipers, check pad thickness and make sure the pistons move freely. Remember that abrasive dirt wears pads faster than tarmac. If your XRT never leaves the tarmac, the OR or ST versions of AGPA29 are more appropriate. Riders who plan a trip with long unmade stretches, such as the gravel roads of the Balkans or Scandinavia's forest tracks, may want to carry the old pads as a spare set, since changing them at a campsite takes little more than basic tools.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPA29 for the Tiger 800 XRT of 2018 only. With two front calipers, you need two boxes. The rear pad for the same XRT is AGPP89. When fitting, clean the pistons, keep the discs free of grease and pump the lever until it is firm before riding.

Road Approval

No German ABE or approval documents are held by us for this pad. It is offered for competition and off-road use.

Scope of Delivery
