DescriptionThe whole story▼
Yamaha's R1 is a supersport machine built around track riding as much as road use, and riders who book it in for a trackday are usually asked to remove the mirrors before going out in a session. Accossato's mirror block-off covers close the holes that leaves behind, two CNC-machined aluminium caps, anodised in a choice of colours, listed for the Yamaha R1 built from 2015 to 2019.
Key Features
- Mirror block-off covers for the Yamaha R1, 2015 to 2019
- Pack of two, one cover for each mirror mounting point
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, titanium, gold
- Closes the mirror holes once the mirrors are removed for track use
- Can be paired with other Accossato parts listed for the same motorcycle
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Each cover is cut from aluminium on CNC equipment, which keeps the pair identical and lets the edge sit flush against the R1's fairing rather than standing proud of it. Anodising follows the machining, an electrochemical process that puts the colour inside the surface of the metal instead of over it, so the finish does not chip the way paint can where a glove brushes past. Seven colours are offered, from a plain titanium or silver through to blue, green, red, black and gold, and Accossato states the covers suit the applications it lists, sold as a pair.
Mirrors Off for the Track
Most UK and European trackday organisers ask for mirrors to be removed or taped before a rider goes on circuit, and on the R1 that leaves two open stems where the mirrors used to sit. Left uncovered, the holes gather grime between sessions and leave the fairing looking unfinished at a bike that is otherwise set up properly for the day. A pair of block-off covers takes the mirrors off at home and closes the gap cleanly, using the same mounting points the mirrors themselves rely on, so there is nothing extra to fit beyond swapping one part for the other before loading the R1 onto a trailer.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists these covers for the Yamaha R1 built from 2015 to 2019. The same R1 is also where Accossato lists an open steering stem nut, code SA001, and a closed steering stem nut, code SC001, both sharing the colour range these covers come in.
Road Approval
We hold no German ABE or type-approval documentation for these covers, so Inter-Pace lists them for racing and competition use rather than for road registration, a note about paperwork rather than a judgement on how the part is made.
Scope of Delivery
