DescriptionThe whole story▼
Yamaha rebuilt the R6 for 2017 around sharper electronics and styling borrowed from the R1, turning what had become a slightly dated supersport back into a serious trackday weapon. New owners collecting one of these updated R6s often book an introductory session with a track-focused instructor before venturing out alone, and those sessions deliberately include practice falls off a stationary bike at low speed, teaching riders how to come off safely rather than fighting a bike that is already going down. Accossato lists the PF046 front axle sliders for the R6 of 2017 to 2019.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Yamaha R6, 2017 to 2019
- Accossato PF046, supplied as a pair
- Aluminium and plastic, black
- Spacers, screws and remaining mounting parts included, as stated by Accossato
- PF013 sliders and PP001/PP009 rear sliders also listed for this bike
- Designed to be the first point of contact if the bike tips over
- Same pair listed for the MT-10, MT-10 SP, R1 and R1M
- No German ABE on file; offered for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato finishes both PF046 protectors in black, each one a mix of aluminium and plastic sized for the left and right side of the front wheel. The spacers, the screws and the rest of the fittings needed for mounting are included in the same box, by the maker's own account. Through a new owner's early sessions on the updated R6, before confidence and technique are fully formed, these sliders are the parts meant to meet the ground first if the bike tips or slides, taking some of what the fork and axle area would otherwise suffer. Treat a slider that has absorbed a heavy knock as finished and fit another.
Learning to Fall the Right Way
A good trackday coach teaches new riders that a slide is sometimes the safer option compared with fighting a bike that has already lost grip, and part of that lesson is understanding what the sliders and crash pads are actually for: parts designed to be sacrificed so the rider and the expensive components underneath them are not. Practising a controlled low-speed tip-over, often in a quiet corner of the paddock away from other traffic, lets a new R6 owner see exactly how the bike behaves and what gets scuffed first. It is a deliberately unglamorous exercise, but one that takes the fear out of a genuine off later in the day. After any practice fall or a real one, checking the sliders and the fork before continuing is simply good habit.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the PF046 for the R6 from 2017 to 2019, and our listing follows those years, distinct from the earlier PF013 code for older R6s. The PP001 and PP009 rear sliders are also listed for this bike. In our shop, the PF046 additionally covers the MT-10, the MT-10 SP, the R1 and the R1M. Please check your R6 against the application list before ordering, or ask us to confirm it.
Road Approval
As no ABE or test document is available to us for the PF046, it is supplied for racing and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
