DescriptionThe whole story▼

Few bikes have done more to popularise the naked-twin segment than the MT-07, and its light weight and easy manners make it a common sight at weekend group rides, where a dozen or more bikes set off together and inevitably end up parked close together at every stop. Group rides concentrate exactly the kind of hazard a solo rider rarely faces: someone else's bike toppling into yours while it stands on its own stand, or a rider behind misjudging the gap while pulling in. Accossato lists the PF041 front axle sliders for the MT-07 of 2014 to 2018.

Key Features

  • Front axle sliders for the Yamaha MT-07, 2014 to 2018
  • Accossato PF041, supplied as a pair
  • Aluminium and plastic, black
  • Spacers, screws and remaining mounting parts included, as stated by Accossato
  • TP064 crash pads also listed for this bike
  • Designed to be the first point of contact if the bike tips over
  • Same pair listed for the Yamaha XSR700
  • No German ABE on file; offered for racing and competition

Construction and Material Quality

The PF041 combines aluminium and plastic in both of its black protectors, one for each side of the MT-07's front wheel. Accossato's own account places the spacers, screws and every other part needed for mounting inside the kit. At a busy stop on a group ride, where bikes are often parked wheel to wheel, the sliders are there to take the first contact if the MT-07 is knocked over or slides, which can reduce what the fork and the axle area absorb. A slider ground down in such a moment should be replaced rather than kept.

Parked Wheel to Wheel on a Group Ride

A dozen bikes arriving at the same café or viewpoint rarely find a dozen separate parking spaces, and the result is often a tight row with barely room to swing a leg over between neighbouring machines. Someone manoeuvring their own bike into that row can easily misjudge the gap and nudge an MT-07 that is already resting lightly on its side stand, and a nudge from a heavier bike is sometimes enough to send it over. The same crowding makes it hard to reach a fallen bike quickly, since other machines block the obvious path to lift it. Leaving a little extra space when you can, and choosing firm, level ground at the end of a row rather than the middle, both help. If the MT-07 does go down this way, the sliders take the first contact; check them, the mirror and the lever before rejoining the group.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's application list gives the PF041 for the MT-07 from 2014 to 2018, and our listing follows those years. The same code is also catalogued in our shop for the Yamaha XSR700. For the fairing of this bike, the TP064 crash pads are available. Please check your MT-07 against the application list before ordering, or ask us to confirm it.

Road Approval

We hold no ABE or other test document for the PF041, so it is supplied for racing and competition use.
