DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Hypermotard 821 takes the supermoto idea onto the road: a tall, slim bike with wide bars and a Testastretta twin. Many owners take it to kart tracks, where tight hairpins and short straights suit its character well. Kart tracks are also where slow crashes happen, when a front tyre tucks in a hairpin or the rear steps out further than intended. For the Hypermotard 821 of 2013 to 2016, Accossato lists the PF042 front axle sliders, a black pair in aluminium and plastic.

Key Features

  • Front axle sliders for the Ducati Hypermotard 821, 2013 to 2016
  • Accossato code PF042, black
  • Aluminium and plastic
  • Two protectors per pack
  • Spacers, screws and all other mounting parts included, according to Accossato
  • Meant to make first contact in a slide and help limit damage at the fork ends
  • Pairs with the TP067 crash pads for this bike
  • No German ABE; for track and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato makes the PF042 from aluminium and plastic and supplies it in black. Two protectors come in each pack, together with spacers, screws and the other parts required for mounting, as the maker says. The description does not explain how they sit on the Hypermotard 821, so we give no mounting details. On a bike that is likely to see kart tracks, what matters is that they are far simpler to renew than a fork and are there to take the first contact.

Hairpins on a Kart Track

Kart tracks are short, tight and busy, which makes them ideal for supermoto-style bikes and for practising body position at low speed. The Hypermotard 821 feels at home there, but the tight hairpins ask a lot of the front tyre. If it tucks, the bike slides onto its side and the fork ends and bar ends grind along the tarmac. The speeds are low, so the damage is usually limited, but it can still end a day early. Warm the tyres properly, brake in a straight line before the hairpin and release the brake smoothly as you turn in. Many kart tracks run motorcycle days with their own rules on noise, clothing and protection; check them before you go. After a slide, inspect the sliders and the fork, and replace a slider that is ground down.

Fitment and Compatibility

PF042 is listed for the Hypermotard 821 from 2013 to 2016. For the frame and bodywork area, Accossato offers the TP067 crash pads for the same bike. Before the first session, spin the front wheel by hand and move the bars through their full travel, listening for any rubbing at the calipers or the mudguard. Tighten the screws to the values in Ducati's manual and check them after the first outing.

Road Approval

For the PF042 no German ABE or test mark is on file, so its place in our range is motorsport.
