DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Yamaha MT-125 is, for a lot of young riders, the first motorcycle of their own, bought at sixteen or seventeen and ridden every day to school, college or work. Distance adds up quickly on a bike used like that, in rain and in winter as well as in summer, and its single front disc takes all of it. Accossato's DK245 is a floating Elite disc for the MT-125, listed from 2014 to 2020. It measures 292 mm across, has a large 165 mm centre bore, is 4.5 mm thick and sits on a black carrier.

Key Features

  • Floating front disc from Accossato's Elite line for the Yamaha MT-125
  • Listed for 2014 to 2020, including the ABS model
  • 292 mm outer diameter, 165 mm inner diameter
  • 4.5 mm thick, matching the original disc according to Accossato
  • Black carrier, Accossato logo on the rivets
  • Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
  • The MT-125 has one front disc; one DK245 replaces it
  • No German ABE on record; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

For a 125, the MT-125 carries a generously sized front disc, and the DK245 follows that pattern: a 292 mm friction ring riveted to a black carrier with a wide 165 mm bore. The rivets bear Accossato's logo and let the ring float, so it can expand when hot and centre itself between the pads. As an Elite disc it keeps the original thickness of 4.5 mm. Accossato says its discs draw on what it has learnt in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and it prints each disc's minimum working thickness on the ring.

A Commuter's Arithmetic

Ridden to work five days a week, an MT-125 can cover more distance in a year than many larger bikes that only come out on sunny weekends. Commuting is hard on brakes, too: short trips, frequent stops at lights and junctions, and plenty of riding on wet roads where grit acts like grinding paste between pad and disc. Accossato's advice to renew discs at around thirty to forty thousand kilometres can therefore arrive within a few years. Check the pads every few weeks, because pads worn down to the backing plate can ruin a disc in a single ride. Measure the disc at each service and write the figure down, so that its replacement can be planned instead of forced on you. Riders new to motorcycling should also learn to use the front brake fully rather than relying on the rear; on an MT-125, as on any motorcycle, the front does most of the stopping.

Fitment and Compatibility

Two versions of the MT-125 are on Accossato's list for the DK245: the MT 125 from 2014 to 2016 and the MT 125 A, the ABS version, from 2014 to 2020. The bike has a single front disc, and one DK245 replaces it. For the clutch, Accossato lists the ESR15L lever for the MT-125.

Road Approval

No German ABE or type approval is documented for the DK245, which we supply for track riding.
