DescriptionThe whole story▼
Few motorcycles spend as much time in city traffic as the Yamaha MT-07. The parallel twin is slim, easy to filter with and relaxed at low speed, which makes it a daily tool for many riders in all weathers. In town the front brake works in short, frequent bursts, often on wet tarmac and slippery road markings. Accossato's DK077 is a floating Elite disc that Accossato lists for the MT-07 from 2021 to 2023: 298 mm across, 132 mm at the bore and 5 mm thick, on a black carrier with the company logo on every rivet.
Key Features
- Elite-line floating front disc for the Yamaha MT-07, 2021 to 2023
- Listed for the ABS model of those years
- 298 mm diameter, 132 mm inner diameter, 5 mm thickness
- Thickness as on the original disc, according to Accossato
- Black carrier with logo-marked rivets
- Printed minimum working thickness
- Price for one disc; the MT-07 has two at the front
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The friction ring of the DK077 is not made in one piece with its centre. It is riveted to a separate black carrier, and the rivets leave it a little room, so heat can widen the ring while the carrier stays flat against the wheel. The Elite line keeps the original disc thickness, here 5 mm, and marks each rivet with the brand logo. On the braking surface you will find the minimum working thickness, the point below which the disc must be replaced. Accossato says its understanding of discs comes from racing and that the low mass of its designs makes a bike easier to steer.
Wet Streets, Short Stops
Rain changes how a disc brake behaves in the first moment. A film of water covers the ring, and the pads have to wipe it away before they bite fully, so on a wet morning the first squeeze of the lever can feel softer than expected. On an MT-07 in town, a light touch of the brakes a few hundred metres before the first real junction clears the surface and tells you what to expect. Road spray also carries grit that wears pads and discs faster than dry riding, and a bike parked outside overnight often greets its owner with a thin layer of rust on the rings, which the first stops remove. What should concern you is not that brown film but deep grooves or a lip forming at the outer edge. In dense traffic, leave more distance than on dry roads, brake earlier and more gently, and keep off painted lines and manhole covers when stopping, since grip on them is poor however healthy the brakes are.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK077 for the MT-07 from 2021 to 2023 and names the ABS model of those years; earlier MT-07s do not appear on the list. The bike has two front discs, and the price applies to one, so a complete change needs two DK077s. Accossato's alternative for the same bike is the DKS073, the same size but without the Elite features. For the right hand, Accossato also lists the EDF016 brake lever for the MT-07.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the DK077 and no type approval on record. It is meant for the track rather than public roads.
Scope of Delivery
One DK077 Elite floating disc with black carrier. The second front disc of the MT-07 is ordered separately.
