DescriptionThe whole story▼

Owners who build their XSR900 into a bobber-style custom often fit a smaller, slimmer seat and remove what little bodywork came standard, leaving the frame itself more exposed than on a stock bike and making it the first thing to meet the ground if anything goes wrong. Custom-built bikes like this tend to spend a lot of time at local meet-ups where the emphasis is on standing around admiring other people's work rather than riding, and that stationary socialising is exactly when a bike parked at a slight angle on a crowned road can be nudged by a passer-by. Accossato lists the TP097 crash pads for the XSR900 of 2016 to 2020.

Key Features

  • Crash pads for the Yamaha XSR900, 2016 to 2020
  • Accossato TP097, two pads per pack
  • CNC-machined aluminium body
  • Anodised insert in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
  • Matching screw cover available as an option
  • PF040/PF055 front and PP080 rear axle sliders also listed for this bike
  • Ask us before ordering whether drilling is needed
  • No German ABE on file; for racing and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato machines the TP097 body from aluminium and sets an anodised insert into it, chosen from six colours, with a matching screw cover offered as an extra. Two pads come in the pack. On a custom XSR900 with little bodywork left to shield the frame, the pads are there to take the first contact if the bike is nudged over while parked, which can reduce what the exposed frame nearby suffers. They are wear parts, and a pad showing a deep mark after a knock should be replaced.

Nudged While Everyone Stands Around Admiring It

A well-built custom XSR900 draws a crowd at any meet-up, and a crowd standing close to a bike parked on a road with any camber at all is a recipe for an accidental knock, whether from a careless step backward to take a photograph or a hand placed on the tank to feel the engine warmth. The bike's own stand is doing less work than usual in this situation, since the lean angle on a crowned road is rarely accounted for by someone unfamiliar with it, and a nudge that would be harmless on flat ground can be enough to tip it. Parking on the flattest spot available, and keeping an eye on the bike when a crowd gathers, both help. If the XSR900 does go over this way, the crash pads take that first contact; check them, and the frame, before riding home.

Fitment and Compatibility

On the XSR900, the TP097 spans 2016 to 2020 by Accossato's own account, which our listing follows. Front protection comes from either the PF040 or the PF055, paired with the PP080 at the rear. This crash pad is also shared in our shop with the MT-09, the MT-09 SP and the Tracer 900 GT. Since some models in Accossato's catalogue call for drilling without being named, confirm with us before ordering whether your XSR900 is one of them.

Road Approval

As no ABE or test certificate has been supplied for the TP097, we list it for track and competition use.
