DescriptionThe whole story▼

An MT-07 ridden through winter sees a different set of hazards from the same bike in summer, and salted roads bring one that catches out riders who forget how differently a side stand behaves once grit and brine have worked their way under the tyres. A stand foot resting on a film of salty slush can slide sideways with far less warning than on dry tarmac, especially once the bike has been standing for a few minutes and the slush has had time to settle. Accossato lists its TP064 crash pads for the MT-07, covering 2014 to 2018.

Key Features

  • Crash pads for the Yamaha MT-07, 2014 to 2018
  • Accossato TP064, two pads per pack
  • CNC-machined aluminium body
  • Anodised insert in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
  • Matching screw cover available as an option
  • PF041 front axle sliders also listed for this bike
  • Ask us before ordering whether drilling is needed
  • No German ABE on file; for track and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato machines the TP064 body from aluminium and anodises its insert in a choice of six colours, with a matching screw cover offered for those who want one. Two pads make up the pack. On the MT-07, they sit close to the frame and are designed to take the first contact if the bike slips off its stand or tips over, which can spare the frame nearby some of that impact. They are sacrificial by design, and a pad that shows a deep scrape should be replaced.

A Stand That Slides on Salted Slush

Road salt does its job of melting ice, but it leaves behind a slushy film that behaves nothing like clean wet tarmac underneath a motorcycle's side stand. The MT-07's stand foot, resting on a thin layer of that slush rather than solid ground, can slide sideways gradually rather than all at once, so the bike may begin to lean several minutes after it was parked, long after the rider has walked away. Parking on bare ground rather than where slush has pooled, and checking the bike again before riding off rather than assuming it is as stable as when it was left, both reduce the risk. If the MT-07 does go over this way, the crash pads take the first contact; dry and check them, along with the mirror and lever, once the bike is back on its wheels.

Fitment and Compatibility

Our listing for the TP064 on the MT-07 runs 2014 through 2018, taken straight from Accossato's own years. The identical pad is also listed in our shop against the Yamaha Tracer 7. Front-end protection on this bike comes from the PF041 sliders. Because some motorcycles in Accossato's catalogue need the fairing drilled without being named individually, ask us to check your MT-07 before you place an order.

Road Approval

No ABE or test mark is on file for the TP064, so we offer it for racing and competition use.
