Country roads are where most Scrambler 800 riders spend their weekends, and country roads cross railway lines. A level crossing can turn a short wait into an awkward moment: the road often rises towards the tracks, the surface around them is patched and uneven, and the rails are smooth steel on which a boot slides easily. Whether it is a Café Racer or a Desert Sled, a Scrambler 800 balanced on one foot there can tip over before the barrier lifts. Accossato's TP090 crash pads are listed for both versions of 2017 and 2018.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the TP090 from aluminium on CNC machines and gives every pad an insert anodised in one of six colours: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold. The screw cover is optional and is anodised to match the insert, so you can decide whether the fixing shows. A pack contains two pads. On the Scrambler 800, the pads are there to take the first contact if the bike falls over, which can limit the damage to the frame and the parts close to it. Once a pad has been scraped deeply or bent, it is replaced.
At the Level Crossing
Stop a little way back from the barrier on flat, clean ground, and never put your foot down on a rail, a painted marking or the panels between the tracks. If the road rises steeply towards the rails, stop before the slope begins. Left foot down, right foot on the rear brake, and the Scrambler 800 stays put even if the wait is long. When the barrier opens, cross in a straight line and as close to a right angle to the rails as the road allows, upright and at a steady speed, without braking or accelerating on the steel. Wet rails are extremely slippery, and so are the metal edges alongside them. The lights and barriers always have the last word: never cross while they are flashing or moving. Cattle grids and steel plates at road works call for the same approach. If a slow topple happens anyway, check the pads, the lever and the footpeg before riding on.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the TP090 for the Scrambler 800 in Café Racer and Desert Sled form from 2017 to 2018, and our listing follows. According to Accossato, the fairing must be drilled on some motorcycles for its crash pads, and the list does not say on which. A Scrambler 800 has little bodywork, but please ask us before ordering whether drilling is needed on yours. For the same bike, the PF044 front sliders (Café Racer) and the PP018 rear sliders are listed too. The TP090 also appears in our shop for the Scrambler 1100 and the Hypermotard 950.
Road Approval
For the TP090 we have no approval papers of any kind, so it is listed for racing and competition purposes.
