DescriptionThe whole story▼

For many new riders, the Benelli BN 302 was the first motorcycle of their own. The small twin-cylinder naked bike suits the A2 licence, is easy to live with day to day and carries a name with a long history in Pesaro. New riders drop their bikes more often than experienced ones, usually at walking pace in a car park or at the end of their own drive. From Accossato, the TP089 crash pads are listed for the BN 302 of 2014 to 2018, a pair machined from aluminium with inserts anodised in the colour of your choice.

Key Features

  • Crash pads for the Benelli BN 302, 2014 to 2018
  • Accossato code TP089, two pads per pack
  • Aluminium body, CNC-machined
  • Anodised insert in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
  • Matching screw cover available as an option
  • Some bikes need the fairing drilled; ask us about the BN 302 before ordering
  • No German ABE; for track and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato machines the TP089 from aluminium and gives each pad an anodised insert, so a new rider can pick a colour that suits the bike: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold. The screw cover, if you choose it, is anodised to match. You get two pads in the pack. The manufacturer says that its pads call for a drilled fairing on some motorcycles but does not name them, so please ask us whether that applies to the BN 302 before you order; we would rather sort this out beforehand than have you discover it with the parts in your hand.

The First Year of Riding

The first year on a motorcycle is full of small lessons. You learn that a side stand sinks into soft ground, that a bike parked facing downhill is hard to push back out, and that a moment of hesitation at a junction can end with the bike on its side. Most of these drops happen at a standstill or at walking pace, and with the right technique a rider can lift the BN 302 alone: back against the seat, knees bent, hands on the bar and the rear of the frame, then push with the legs. The damage is usually small, a scratched bar end, a bent lever or a scuff on a side panel. Crash pads give that first contact a replaceable part, which can spare the more expensive panels. Practise slow riding in an empty car park, keep your eyes up in tight turns and use the rear brake rather than the front at walking pace. After a drop, check the pads and levers and replace anything that is bent before the next ride.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the TP089 for the BN 302 from 2014 to 2018. We have no other Accossato protection parts listed for this bike. Whether the bodywork needs drilling on your BN 302 is something we clarify with you before the order. After fitting, turn the bars fully to both sides and check that neither a cable nor a panel touches the pads.

Road Approval

As we have no German ABE or test mark for the TP089, it is sold for closed-circuit events and competition.
