DescriptionThe whole story▼
Junctions in town are rarely clean. Painted lines, manhole covers, a film of diesel near a filling station: in the wet, any of them can let the rear tyre slip as you pull away. On a Speed Triple 1050 S, with a strong triple beneath you, the solution lies in the left hand as much as in the right. Accossato's EST333P is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the S of 2016 to 2020, fitted at the original clutch mounting, with an adjustable reach.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Speed Triple 1050 S, model years 2016 to 2020
- Uses the original clutch mounting
- Reach to the grip adjustable near the pivot
- All seven colours in standard length, about 138 mm
- Short blades in five colours, long blades in four
- Machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
- Fixed lever with no joint
Construction and Material Quality
Machined from aluminium and then anodised, the EST333P follows the two-tone pattern of Accossato's levers: a black hub carrying the pivot and adjuster, and a blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green. It is a fixed design, with nothing along the blade that could fold or work loose, which is what you want from the control that decides how gently drive reaches the rear tyre. The anodised finish is grown from the metal rather than applied to it, so water and road dirt cannot creep underneath.
Wet Paint and Manhole Covers
On a slippery surface, drive has to reach the rear tyre gradually. If the clutch engages quickly, the engine's torque arrives in one go and the tyre can spin or step sideways. Where you can, avoid stopping with the rear wheel on a painted line or a metal cover, so that you pull away from clean asphalt. Where you cannot, keep the throttle opening small and let the clutch out more slowly than usual, pausing at the bite point until the bike is moving before releasing it fully. That slow release is easiest when your fingers control the lever from a comfortable position instead of the end of their reach. Set the EST333P so that the bite point falls in the part of the travel where your fingers are strongest, and check it again in rain gloves, which are thicker than summer ones. On the Speed Triple 1050 S, the standard blade gives a moderate pull that suits most hands; the long blade, made in blue, gold, green or orange, lightens it further.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EST333P for the Speed Triple 1050 S across the 2016 to 2020 model years, replacing the stock lever at the original clutch mounting. On the right-hand side, the EDF099 brake lever covers the same years of the S and is made in the same colours, so the two can be ordered as a pair.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for the EST333P; its intended use is on the track.
